They're prob the two most iconic watches ever created from a pure mass appeal / marketing perspective. I think there is a spot for both of them in any collection.

Just picked up a very lightly used 2016 Speedy MK2. Love the retro looking case and grey racing dial. I decided I wanted to add an automatic Speedmaster to my classic "Moonwatch". :)

As I wrote in a former post, a great watch but far too expensive for a movement which remains virtually unchanged. From 2500€ a few years ago and now 4500€ for the same watch !,,, but a you have to pay the box...

I have owned a couple through the years and will surely own another one at some point. Right now my chrono slot is being filled by a Daytona C.

Never could get into the Daytona because of its size and legibility.

So I ended up taking a different path to JLCs door step to find my preferred chrono. The DSC had the dimensions, esthetics, and all horological bases covered for me.

Remember there are more than just 1 or 2 good watch makers out their.

Borrowed pic
Just looked up the Jaeger Lecoutre watches on their site...very impressed!!

The Omega Moon Watch was my first nice watch. I bought it myself, while in high school, and will never sell it. I also wear it in rotation with my other watches.

I had a hesalite Speedy and wore it for about 5 years before giving it to my son, to whom I promised it. Although I surely miss it, it gives me greater joy to see him wearing that watch. I've been seriously toying with the idea of getting another one, though. I'm leaning toward the sapphire sandwich.

There are plenty of nice watches in the world, but there is only room for one watch on a man's wrist. Make it a good one.

Hate is such a strong word, not sure I'd use it towards a watch, certainly not against one as classic as the speedy. I think it's a great piece.

I own a modern SubC date.

I've never had a serious interest in the Speedmaster. I've been drunk on the chase (more like waiting) for the DaytonaC the past ~1.5 years and haven't really considered another chrono for my collection.

I agree with Megan in that I don't see anything constructive coming from matching up the watches against each other. Their both iconic pieces. I am sure they have a mix of overlapping fans and others who firmly sit on one side or the other.

I have a constant debate with myself on my Speedy. And I use to own 2. One modern and one pre-moon. Ended up doing a deal and moved the pre-moon for a grail (my AP).

Now my top 3 watches: AP 15400, Explorer 1 (214720 - MK2), Speedmaster 1863 (suitcase box model with the display back).

I don't own a Sub, but I did decide to purchase the Explorer over the Sub recently.

I think I no longer care too much about chronographs and various functions on a watch. I'm perfectly happy with a nice time only or time + date piece. If I want functions, I think my Casio Calculator watch is pretty interesting.

The natural progression is to move the Speedy as I haven't worn it for a long time and the actual love for piece itself is no longer there. However, this particular Speedy was my first high end watch and the Moon Watch has a historical significance that I think personally is irreplaceable. It is also not a lot of value considering the watches I would want to replace it with. Now all I do it stare at it when I open the box....

Oh! the debate....

I currently own the Co-Axial Speedmaster 44.25. Great watch and I can't say I would never sell it but it would take a lot to get it out of my collection.
