Explorer 2 help
I’m about to pull the trigger on a brand new explorer 2 with black face. My question is I’m not too fond of the brushed steel feel of the bracelet on my wrist. It feels a bit chalky to me. I currently wear a sub. Also a day date which both watches have the polished feel to the bracelet and the sub has the smoother ceramic dial. But I simply love the oversized feel of the explorer 42 case size. Since I have a large wrist. Basically i just want to know if anyone else had same feelings and after they’ve worn it does it just go away after a while ? Thanks in advance. This is my first time posting here.

Great choice. I would go with white dial, but you can't lose on either. To me the brushed steel is just perfect. It's very comfortable and looks good.
It's the exact same steel on your ceramic Sub by the way. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

It's going to wear pretty much like a sub. so if you don't like that, don't get it

Thanks guys. Didn’t realize bracelet was the same as my Sub. It just felt a bit different.

I love the brushed steel bezel. This makes it more resistant to showing scratches. In addition the fact that it doesn't turn gives the Explorer II a much more solid feel then watches with movable bezels In addition, the brushed steel bracelet is much more subtle, harder and again more resistant to showing scratches Everything together makes the watch feel like a genuine tough-as-nails explorer. Even with this, its still smart and looks nice with a suit. However, you have to like the brushed steel. I would think about it more and try the watch on more and also try on other watches with brushed steel bracelets (e.g. the airking). All the oyster bracelets feel the same its just the look. In addition, I thought the sub had a brushed steel bracelet ???? Its needs to grow on your before you buy it |

I go back and forth between loving a polished bracelet (Milgauss and GMT) and loving a brushed bracelet (Explorer and Explorer II). In the end I think I like them both about the same; they are just different. The one thing I think you'll never have a problem with is a Rolex oyster bracelet. They are as good as it gets.
Having said that, when they moved the Explorer II from 40mm to 42mm they upsized the bracelet to match it. It's perfectly proportioned and tapers wonderfully. You should have no troubles what so ever. But just make sure you are comfortable before pulling the trigger. It's a big purchase. Good luck! |

I think you will love it.
As been stated earlier: I have experienced the same: Exp II is tougher, more scratch-resistant if you compare to others (sub, seadweller, daytona). I use my Exp in tougher conditions than my other Rolex-watches: at sauna, jogging, as a tool-watch... no scratches so far, after two months. My SD and Daytona for example: already some marks in lighter use. Exp II has a nature of its own. I happen to love it, but I do understand that the watch itself divides people. I have Polar. Lol, I know the chalky remark sounds idiotic. But I’m a weirdo I guess. What I meant is the bezel felt more like a matte finish.

I have a Sub 114060 and just purchased a Exp ii 216570 and they feel pretty much the same to me, the Exp ii does have more taper on the bracelet 21mm to 15mm. The only difference I can tell without looking is the great feel when I switch to my Milgauss, very comfy although I think all three weigh the same.
