I wouldn't but I don't have a thing for the Aquanaut....doesn't change the fact it's a well built/beautiful watch. If you love it then by all means go for it.

Asking this question because Patek are Rolex are both great brands and the leaders in their perspective fields. Do you want the Aquanaut because you like the watch itself, or because it’s an entry into PP that will lead to other, more expensive watches with complications?
I’ve never owned a PP. I’ve just spoken to owners, checked them out at Patek ADs a few times, and done a bunch of reading in the PP forum here on TRF. To me, in the sport watch category Rolex is where it’s at and I don’t think I’ll look anywhere else. If I wanted a dress watch, or a piece of haute horology then Patek is the way to go. The Nautilus and Aquanaut are great watches, even iconic. But it seems to me that for sport watches, Rolex offers many more options and much better bang for your buck. Owning a PP perpetual calendar would be an absolute dream, and would be like investing in a piece of art. But until I’m there financially, I’m going to stick with Rolex. But to each their own. Sorry for the long post. |

Only you can answer this question. If it were me, no. If we were talking 5711 or 5712, that's a different story.

Maintenance
If you get the Patek, be prepared for extremely expensive and lengthy service experiences. I’ve owned 3 and that’s been my experience on each. Three samples isn’t a statistical absolute, but I think it is indicative.

I wouldn’t
But why did you choose the 5164r? Is it because it’s what’s available to you, or you’ve wanted it for a while and now you have an opportunity? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
