UK watch insurance.

Had a near miss yesterday, lost my watch in the house..found it no bother but realise my home cover is only for £5k max outside the home.

Who do you UK folks to insure your pieces?

I use Hiscox.
It isn’t cheap but a lot of people on here kindly gave me that advice and they apparently cover for everything.
Check it out online.

John Lewis do our buildings and contents with cover provided for our watches and her jewellery.

Cover is excellent but the terms are quite strict i.e. installation of a proper safe; home alarm system that is service annually - if your house gets turned over and the alarm was service 13 months previously, then you're out of luck; items of value that are not in use are to be in the safe. Watches, etc. are covered away from the home if, say, we're on holiday.

Items worth north of £10k have to be individually itemised.

Our policy is £1,250 per year but considering the level of cover, I'm ok with it.

I started a thread on here back in April about how I came about taking this policy. It was a rush job because I was on my way to the airport to fly back to Singapore so didn't have time to mess around with the usual routes of insurance quotes. I knew that JL covered expensive stuff in their home/contents policies because my bestie had recently renewed his with them. If memory serves, a couple of guys posted that they had similar cover but cheaper. If you have a bit of time, do your research but if not, I'm very happy with JL.

Here's the thread:
