Between the two? Easy - the sub. And I won’t list the reasons in case you decide to keep the JLC...

JLC possibly. The 12-hour timezone bezel and stopwatch are handy, and it's a watch that marks you out as someone who doesn't follow the herd.

There's a lot to like about that JLC. The 116610LN is far too common.

Not challenging the horological merits of the JLC, but dang this doesn’t hardly seem like a question at all, Sub in landslide, blowout, route, bad beat down.

I prefer the Sub. I find it more versatile, classic. And the bracelet seals the deal. I’m also not a fan of chronographs on a dive watch. There’s just too much going on for my tastes with that JLC.

I love that particular JLC model but I would have to vote sub for -
versatility
water resistance
glidelock clasp
date
value retention
robustness
ceramic bezel (scratch resistance)

I'd go with the JLC. I've been wearing my 16610 Submariner for twelve years. Some days I find it a much too common, follow the crowd, everyman Rolex.
