Price rise 2018??
There have been various rumours that prices would rise this year as particularly we haven’t had one in the UK for a few years now. As we are now into the second half of 2018 do you foresee a price increase for Rolex anytime soon?

Does it really matter since most AD's seemingly have no availability of SS sports models anyway?

I hope there would also be rumors of actual SS sports watches appearing on Authorized dealers

Honestly if they went up by $200-500 on the sports models only (like, take the 214270 to $6,750 from $6,550 and the GMT Master II to $9,500 from $8,995) I don't think anyone would bat an eye. These things are unobtainable right now.

I thought we have come to the consensus/understanding that no one, including the omniscient ADs, can accurately predict anything Rolex will or will not do?
Pull the trigger now. |

I have seen this before. You can almost predict a recession based of extremely low dealer inventory levels. 1999 and 2006 had extremely low sport watch levels Rolex had an up to 30 percent increase and then we had a recession. 2019 recession???

No one knows. I was at an AD last December trying on watches and the sales dork used the "price increase coming shortly" line on me. This is almost a secret litmus test for me; anyone who claims to know this is full of shit.

Paying MSRP is the new price rise.

I have some unofficial sources!
Sports models will rise from $ 200 to $ 500 like submariner, gmt ... At the end of this year, rolex will stop producing batman and hulk to introduce new models |

Only thing I know is iwc have recently increased their prices on the base model portugueser, which can either be explained as consumption of watches have significantly picked up (obvoisly) and or iwc is shifting to an in house movement for their base models. I know its not 100% relavant with rolex but maybe we will see more prices increased across other brands as well.

It would be like $7500 with a refund. US prices with no tax is $9250. So comparing apples to apples that is a huge spread.

No one is sitting here with a crystal ball. Rolex normally doesnt increase price as we get closer to Christmas. They still want their sales in, but their sales aren't going to increase as they supply less to the market now.

rolex did a price increase in November in the UK to adjust for currency fluctuation two(?) years ago.

Last price increase was June 2012 in USA and Switzerland, February 2016 in Europe, November 2016 in UK, June 2018 in Brazil ... |

i still don't count the UK one as a true price increase but a currency adjustment. They were not making more money but offsetting the GBP fall... IE charging more in a currency that became worth less. Splitting hairs, but i do think its a distinction. No idea on the europe one though.

If the price increases for watches we can't obtain, does the price really increase?

i think thats sort of the point. Price them so demand and supply balance. It would be a pretty hefty increase though on some models. Otherwise it wont have any practical difference in availability. 10% on a Daytona and you still wont get one. 50% and the waitlists would evaporate and they will still probably sell as many as before but there would just be less people fighting over them.

+1 demand outweighs production. Don't think we'll see price hike through Rolex itself this year, but they have raised prices with new models each year.
