Probably a cliche, I know, but after having a 'collection' for years I wanted basically one watch that could work for anything -- something I could take around the world and would withstand diving, surfing, camping etc., but that I could still put on with a suit and go to work. Not sure why I like the idea of using the same watch for more rugged activities and the office (maybe it's just a reminder when I'm at work of the fun stuff I've done, who know). For me very few watches fill that role, and it came down to a Sub or an Explorer. I went with a Sub because I use the timing bezel often.

I never imagined I would ever own a Rolex. To me it's the pinnacle of luxury. As I reached a milestone in savings, I thought I should treat myself.
I didn't impulse buy though - I waited a good 6 months, always eyeing the black sub. After a lot of thinking about it, I saw one, unworn ,for €5,500. I couldn't resist. I haven't regretted it once. |

For me I just love nice well crafted things that I dont have to throw away over time.
My grandmother passed a few months ago, and left me some money. I could have done something boring like pay bills or downpayment on a car. Instead, Got a white dial DJ41 (smooth bezel). Couldn't be happier. It's an amazing watch. I thank her for it every time I look at it. |

I bought my first Rolex (a 5 digit TOG) as a gift to myself. Always wore a watch as a kid just wanted to reward myself when I was financially able to.

Back in 2011, I was looking into buying a second Tag, and then my buddy was kind of hating on me. He started talking about how he wanted an Omega Planet Ocean and that Omegas were better. So after about a month from going to Jared and Omega Boutiques, I almost pulled the trigger on a Shark Bracelet Planet Ocean Chronogaph, but it was too Blingy. Then I ran into a watch post about Chronometers, which lead me to reading about Rolex and the Daytona. Three months later, I pulled the trigger and I have not looked back since. Working on my second and super excited about it. Regards my TRFers!!!!

A friend was getting divorced and needed cash. He happened to have a TT Sub Serti for sale for well less than I would have thought. I had the cash, so...
Quickly found that it was too "blingy" for the everyday wear I intended. Went to a trusted seller, and we worked out a deal that put a 14060 on my wrist and enough cash in my pocket to pay off the last bit of the wife's car. Now I have a stainless, bulletproof, awesome watch with a great history and a few stories to tell. |
