Ultrasonic Cleaning
Anyone use and/or recommend an Ultrasonic cleanse for their Rolex? What’s the best way to clean up?
Thank you! |

Bracelet only. I wouldn’t drop the watch head in, although I believe some jewellers do.

No need. Soap, water and a soft toothbrush is all that is needed to clean a Rolex.

I use dish soap with warm water with my ultrasonic cleaner for the bracelet ONLY. I don't do it all the time. Perhaps once every 6 months or so.

@StevenMichael
If you're in LA just pop into the RSC in Beverly Hills. From time to time I bring my contemporary Rolex watches there for a steam clean and they always do it for free. The watch head is removed during the process and they also check to see if the spring bars are sound. For my vintage watches I prefer to do it myself by removing the bracelet and cleaning it with Dawn liquid soap, warm water and a soft/worn toothbrush. __________ Instagram: @onthedial |

I only wash the bracelet, with hot soapy water. The head can be done with a clean rag.
You would be surprised how much grime gets into a Rolex bracelet. |

Funniest thing, I use my steaming wand on my espresso machine to clean the gunk between the bracelet. It works great on my wife diamond ring.

I use one, bracelet only. It is the only way to clean the internal pins. With a tooth brush you only remove visible dirt whilst the grime that causes wear will still be there.

Yep. Best to put it in a super hot cleaner to melt the grease.

I think bracelets can benefit from this, no matter what method used, grime and oils build up in the ares that a brush can't access. I am looking into getting a cleaner to dunk my bracelets in once in a while.

I use a old soft toothbrush and body soap regularly. Then about once a year I give it a spa treatment with my ultrasound with hot cleaning solution in it. Get all the wife's other stuff at the same time. You should see all the gunk that comes out with the ultrasound that you cant get with just soap and water.

Toothbrush and dawn for mine, usually on Sundays. They also swim with me during the week, which seems to help keep the dog slobber to a minimum.

Shocking how much dirt comes out of a bracelet that looks perfectly clean and routinely washed with soap and water when you use the ultrasonic.

Damn how filthy are you people?! Just kidding!
I use a little baby shampoo to wash my watch. Taking care not to drop it on the tile floor! |

Get a cup with warm water and some Dawn dishwashing soap, let the watch sit in the mixture for about 5 mics, then use a soft tooth brush all over.
Rinse with fresh water. My watch cones out sqeaky clean, literally. |

My AD does ultrasonic and steam clean for free. But you have an ultrasonic put a little bit of dawn soap, bracelet only. There’s a small chance a tooth brush could scratch high polish surfaces but it’s usually ok

Boiling might be a little overkill. I usually put the ultrasonic cleaner on 70C, and we use Galvex in the water. But you can use dish soap as well, works fine.

Ultrasonic Cleaning
When using the ultrasonic I typically fill the tank with any commercial jewelry cleaning solution.
But first I give the bracelet a brief wash and brush with a soft toothbrush and clear liquid soap. It gets the easy grime so the jewelry solution isn’t degraded by gunk. After the ultrasonic I rinse it and steam clean with one of the consumer grade steam bullets. That final step sanitizes and removes any remaining solution. Yeah 3 steps...but I only do it a few times a year. And I’m only doing the bracelet of course. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

I put every pre-owned bracelet that I purchase through one or two cycles in an ultrasonic cleaner with warm water and a couple drops of dish washing liquid. The gunk that comes out of those bracelets is something else.
