I repeat what I said in post no 10.
Just because its a small percentage of the watches value doesnt make it ok or beyond question. As one of the other posters mentioned, I also just had my Porsche Turbo S serviced 7 months ago for less and my Audi R8 Plus just had its 1st service for about half the price. Regardless, please dont judge me for questioning whether work is actually required on a watch service. Actually I bought this watch for £2,400 in 2005. Lol the service and repair cost is nearly 40% of my purchase price. Is it ok for me to question it now?! |

It is a fair question to ask for clarification on. Thankfully watches (unlike cars) do not require service as frequently so while it is a notable expense you will hopefully not have to incur it again for many years.

So it's fairly obvious that the watch has had a rather full life.
I would assume you are not into keeping it relatively pristine. I would simply decline all extras and just get the movement serviced with no polishing. You don't mention whether the watch is a "Flat 4" with its original bezel insert or not If it is an all original "Flat 4", then I would most definitely retain the original bezel insert at all costs and make sure they clearly understand this and any other directive. Put it in writing if necessary. You are under not bound by any obligations to them what so ever. I would say that the crystal wouldn't need to be replaced by your account. The Bezel insert is still fit for purpose and fully functional. The crown likewise, unless it compromises the water tight integrity of the watch and or they in all honesty can't warrant the work going forward because the crown is deemed to be too damaged. |
