I’ve been seeing pictures of a black face with black numerals day date that has my head turning. I need to find that model.

I have a dj41 and about to pick up a DD40. I will tell you I feel that I can wear the dj41 daily,... the day date a little too in ur face for daily wear.

As someone that doesn’t care about what people think. I actually worried how people would perceive my opulence.

I would wear a nautilus to work but probably not a DD40

Just something to consider

If you're a fan of Keeping Up with the Kardashians you'll notice that the Day-Date is a pretty popular within that circle.

Pull the trigger!

If you are having trouble remembering what day and date it is then DD is the best option, if you remember the day but not the date, then no need for that extra day. In my opinion the dial looks better without day and date. But I need the date on my watch, because I forget the date, but not the day. So for that reason I would go Datejust.

Datejust got a longer and richer history then the Day-Date, yet the DD has a great history too, but still if history matters a lot to you then maybe Datejust, depending on what part and people of history appeals to you. You should read this great story on the Rolex President. If you like history. http://www.rolexmagazine.com/2008/07...nt-part-1.html

Before the day-date, Datejust was the flag ship of Rolex. As you mentioned Churchill, Eisenhower, Martin Luther King and even the creator of Rolex Hans Wilsdorf used a Datejust on a jubilee. At that time you could get the Datejust's too in solid gold, now you cannot any more at least not the men's sizes. I bet that if you could many would look at the Datejust as equal to the Day-Date.

However the Day-date is a beautiful watch and in my opinion you can not go wrong with either one. Also if money is no barrier for you, choose what ever appeals the most to you.

Here is my Daily beater Datejust.

THANK YOU!!!

Great link, I love the history behind! Amazing.

I value your opinions alot. Great watch you have!

Enjoy the summer, all the best!!

this is the one thing that makes me kind of sad as i'm also going to be picking up a dd36 in a few weeks and can't see myself wearing it to work

DayDate or Datejust?

DD over DJ for sure. Good thing about WG is that it is less “in your face” versus other PM’s. My 18239 says hi!

Why not a 116238 Datejust? The last YG 36mm DJ true to the original flagship. They were recently discontinued this year I believe. It was still on the website before Basel 2018. Another cool reference is the 16018 from the '80s.

Of course a Day-Date is always nice as well. If I were buying one today I would probably get the 40 but it still wasn't out when I got mine.

Yeah I don't do it either. I just feel that people would think I'm being pretentious and vain and that's not the way I want to come across. Out of the workplace I could care less what anyone thinks. I love the look of yellow gold especially with a nice summer tan!

I would only wear a yellow gold dress watch to work. Perhaps an annual or perpetual calendar Patek in the future? The DD can also be worn on leather and it looks quite nice but I've never taken the President off since I feel like the watch just isn't complete without it and I don't want to scratch up the case. Gold scratches much easier than steel.
