Is there aftermarket/no namn oyster bracelets in 904L steel?
With the expensive used bracelet prices I am starting to consider a no name 20 mm oyster bracelet (78360—ish)...does anyone know anyone that can source that? It has to be in 904L steel though...

I beleive 904L is Rolex proprietary steel (now call Oystersteel). So no, I don't think such a bracelet exists.

Unless diving then a 316L will do the job

Not going to make any difference whether 316L or 904L will make little to no difference if 904L was so wonderful don't you think all the major brands would use it.Today more purely marketing and at one time Rolex was the only one that used it, but now that brag has gone as few a few more watch manufactures use it now like Xoskeleton .Sure 904L is a little more corrosion resistant but if you dont have your watch in salt water or acid 24/7 then 904L has little real advantage especially in today mainly pampered watches. So keep them clean this with normal regular service then this corrosion or the so called case pitting in the vintage type watch should not happen. The main and only difference between 316L over 904L it has slightly more Molybdenum(Mo)approx 2% more, approx 1-2% more Crome(Cr) 1% copper(Cu) and approx 10% more nickel and thats it.Its no harder than 316L and if fact 904L will scratch and show scratches more easily than 316

Thanks for the info! The reason I wanted 904L is that I thought it was shinier and more “white” in color compared to 316L which I thought was “duller” and darker... Isn’t that correct? |

The previous generation subs, etc. had 904 heads and 316 bracelets. They look the same.
The “Rolex shimmer” comes from the brushing. I wonder if the replacement bracelets for the previous models are 904 now?

Ive been trying to tell folks this for years and always got the reply "no no no 904L is tougher and more resistant to scratching ..." funny how my BLNR case and bracelet gets scratched up far more than my cheap and cheerful 316L watches. The only mention of non 904L mucking up I heard was in a recent edition of Watchbox Classroom where their senior watch maker said actual divers using 316L could get pitting and water leakage but how many owners actually dive that much with their watches these days?

904 has higher nickel content. To me it appears "brighter" than other steels.

Some have trouble with the idea of after market Bracelets. I for one don’t.
The same guy that pans the idea, has no problem with a NATO? How strange is that. |

I for one wouldn't do it and would worry about how the end links fit the case. Just prefer rubber in this situation. |
