Right on buddy! What a great experience and it certainly sounds like you got the bug. I bet you were wiped at the end of the day too. And remember, it's just gas, tires and brakes.

I’m actually sore today.

What an incredible experience.

I’m trying to figure out how I can get into this, for real. I’ll never take my car again. So thinking Miata.

But this hobby is expensive a all heck. So doing my research. But I’m hooked. To say the least.

Hahahaha, this makes me laugh.
You are in my head a few weeks ago.

I was sore and I thought miata...
But how do you go from your supercar to miata lol?

There is one thing though that I also kept saying...
It doesn't even compare to riding a bike on the track. Yes, it's different and maybe I need to go a lot faster, but even people I talked to who have done both, agree with me.

So, if you're into bikes too, give it a try. :)

Before you buy a race car and a trailer and a tow vehicle and....

You might want to take a driving school for a weekend for some wheel-to-wheel training. Then do some early events in a rental from a prep shop - arrive and drive. You’ll drop a lot of dinero but less than buying a prepped race car and the race junk to feed the coming addiction.

Well, like I say above...I’m doing my research.

I can rent from the MMC for a few hundred a pop. Yesterday was spent with a pro in the car the entire day (not sure if I mentioned that piece). I’d have to do at least one more full day before I can go out on my own.

My initial instinct is a used Miata for relatively small bucks. A trailer for it will be minimal and I’ll just hitch it to my daily driver. Or, I could leave it there for a fee.

But that’s in the future anyway.

Right now I’m trying to wrap my head around the 55k joining fee. Yearly dues after that aren’t so bad.

BUT even before that, I’m bringing my wife for the same day of lessons I received. If I can’t convince her, it’s unlikely it’ll happen at all.

So it’s a long road to get there. If I even get there at all.

Ah - got it - misunderstood your goal.
Thought you were going in the direction Dr. Tom took.

Ha. No. But to be fair to your assessment, that’s of course a dream.

But alas, I just want to drive really fast. I don’t care to be good. I don’t care to race. I don’t want to be the best.

I just want to feel the rush of driving as fast as I can.

I think all our roads would be safer if more people could come to the track and race. First it makes better drivers. But more importantly it stems the urge to speed on the public roads.

Would be a lot cheaper to just retain a quality traffic attorney and befriend the local PD

Ha. I asked my cop buddy what happens if I get busted doing 125.

If they even try to chase me, apparently often times they will just put the lights on hoping I slow down, and they pull me over I’ll likely get my ass kicked. Certainly I’ll lose my car.

I’m not a fan of either option. I’m too old to get my ass kicked again. And too anxious to see my car get towed away. I’d likely never recover.
