Mount Rushmore

Most people agree that in the Rolex professional line the Holy Trinity are the Submariner, GMT Master II and the Daytona. But if you were going to add one more model from the professional line to make it the Mt. Rushmore which would you chose?

I say Submariner, GMT Master II, Daytona and Explorer II.

Not in the professional line, but I'll allow it. It's just for fun. Great choice!

Gotta have a fluted bezel on there as it’s the most iconic Rolex designs.

Day date should be the biggest head on mt rushmore. It's the most iconic Rolex there is.

The most iconic Rolex quartet. I’d say the President is a close 5th.

Although I'm not a huge fan of the watch I'd still have to go for the Explorer II as the fourth member of the Professional Mount Rushmore. It's a classic

Agree with this as well. Explorer deserves honorable mention for historical significance but loses to the DD for not adding a unique complication to the collection. Your "Rolex" bases are fully covered with these four models...unless you really need that regatta count-down timer.

You know a brand has it going on when there's no consensus on the top 4 models. I'd have a hard time coming up with 4 models of any other brand.

Truly there can be no Rolex holy trinity without the President. But if you really insist on a stainless steel all-saints, the Sea Dweller 40 or 43 mm must be a part of it. It is the son of the sub in the same way that Alexander the Great was the son of Philip of Macedon.

For the non-TRF crowd it’s DateJust, DayDate and Submariner, with the GMT being the Teddy Roosevelt.

There are 6 worthy of consideration.
  1. Submariner
  2. DateJust
  3. Day Date
  4. GMT
  5. Daytona
  6. Explorer I

Daytona and Exp I are probably on the outside looking in. They are definitely worthy, but I don't see how they can displace the top 4.

DD would be my other. He'd be the Washington, the most important, the Sub would be Lincoln, Daytona Jefferson and the GMT Teddy. SkyD is more modern so he'd be Cary Grant, another icon.

I’ll be a bit of a contrarian

1) SD43
2) Daytona C
3) Explorer II Polar
4) For “all tech” I’d say Milgauss, for “luxury” I’d say Day-Date

This avoids repeating the look-alike dials/bezels of the SD/Sub/GMT/YM.

Well played! I didn't think to assign them a specific president. Interestingly I believe Washington wore a Day-Date when summering at Mt. Vernon.
