If the work it’s professionally done... why would i prefer a scratched watch over a perfectly shining one?
It’s a Daytona, no bevels, polished lugs.
I’d polish it

I would not polish the watch, I would polish the bracelet and replace the bezel. It'll feel like new.

If it were my scratches I would leave it alone but they are not and I would like to get it better looking condition.

If those imperfections, nicks, and scratches were yours, then I may consider leaving it alone. Since they were caused by someone else, I would 100% definitely polish.

Make your own marks and create your own history...don’t borrow from someone else.

I usually let Rolex evaluate / assess my watch, and tell me what needs to be done, since I don’t have any vintage model ...

Cheers

Hey guys,

I spoke to Edvi back and forth by email. I ultimately decided to send the watch after receiving it from RSC to LAWW to do casework only. I called Rolex and received an email confirmation from RSC that I request no polishing of the case. I will send it to LA to get the case recut, especially the crown guard need some love. The bracelet will be done by RSC.

edit:

I recall speaking to an RSC rep in NY a few years back about an overhaul, and he said that the watch will be sent to Switzerland? Has that always been the case?

Just have LAWW do it all.

Good move !

Have them do it all and restore the original bezel, you won’t regret it !

I did wear the watch for a week to get a sense of how I felt with all the scratches intact and had no real issues looking at a watch that looked worn pretty much as a daily beater. That's why I am second guessing whether or not I should have the watch polished and bezel replaced by RSC. I know there are a lot of members here that condone polishes on modern Rolexes, but I'm under the impression that the 116520s will obviously be placed in the 'vintage' nomenclature eventually.

Photos show the condition of the watch prior to sending it in. I just approved of the estimate by RSC yesterday so I believe there is still time for me to cancel the bezel replacement and request no polishing. What are you guys' thoughts?

I would polish it and then probably not place it on any more rocks for photos

The lighting and rock tile color was too good to pass up as a background.

Why not have the RSC do their work, then for its next service Send it off to LAWW?

I would not polish. As soon as you do, it will look the same in a matter of weeks. Scratch magnets. Let it be.

They are finishing the bracelet and replacing the bezel. I only requested that the case remains untouched.

Well, as many on here have said; at least the scratches will be mine!
