My experience is that with my old subs the bezel needs to be removed from time to time to remove gunk while on my six digit ones gunk don't seem to build up. Maybe the extra gap is better as just rinsing the watch seem to get gunk out?
Totally agree on that any Rolex can be worn at the beach. Few products are as universal robust as Rolex time pieces

I'm thinking that the 116600 on rubber might actually qualify for multiple reasons.

1) Extreme depth rating
2) size and comfort
3) Removed bracelet and replacement with rubber strap makes the watch perfect for on the wrist or over a wet suit.
4) It's a watch designed for the water and diving unlike any watch before or after.

5) It's sunblock proof!!!

Tomas your point is valid. Agree if anything is in between the bezel the subc is easer to get out because of the larger gap.
