Can't beat a classic and the homage is ok as well...

Hi All,

Just picked up an 16610 and have to say it really is the original do it all Rolex tool watch. It’s just a clean 2004 watch with it’s simple 3 hand config and a date. In the days now of trying to get any modern Rolex, it’s reassuring you can pick up a watch still like this cheapish and good enough to stand with any of them IMO. I think if you were to narrow your collection down to just one watch, this could be it.

I also picked this up recently and probably gonna get flamed! It’s an Alpha Paul Newman Daytona with the Ivory dial. For £129 it’s really not bad! Nice seagull hand wind movement that winds smooth with great accurate time keeping and 2 day power reserve. It’s got working chrono’s, pushers are ok and the case is 39mm. Wears quick thick but is a strap monster. I throw it on a different strap everyday, bash it about and the acrylic crystal is still decent. For the price it’s not bad at all.

I also have both of these.

The Alpha is amazing value.

And those pix are very good, especially the Alpha.
