Superlumenova to Chromalight year switch?

Which year did the lume change to Chromalight (blue)?
Looking at the gold sub in particular if that matters...

How much better performance do you get from the Chromalight. I read that the older Superlumenova was below average.

I want to say about 2007. Not sure about individual references.
Edit: Googled and it seems to be 2008 on the DSSD.

It seems the same in practical use. The only notable difference is the color.

It varies depending on the model slightly. It's not like in 2008 suddenly all models had Chromalight.

I believe the initial ceramic GMT-Master IIs still had Superluminova. I want to say they switched over around 2012. I purchased my Explorer II in 2012 and it had Chromalight. To my knowledge the Datejust 2 had Superluminova throughout its run taking it well past 2012.

Correct. Dials with a sharp 'G' in the GMT text glowed green where dials with the more rounded 'G' glowed blue. See enough of them and you know the lume color just from daylight photos.

'Chromalight' is essentially just BG W9. Prior to that, Rolex used Superluminova C1

Most brands use C3

It depends on the model. Not all switched in 2008. The transition was 2008-2012 before everything had it in 2012 and beyond.

Not sure on that one myself. That one could be around 2008 since other Subs started switching around then.
