Is Rose Gold more "sought" after?
Hey all, I went to my local AD to try on the new Day Date II and what can i say.... its beautiful ! I also tried on the Rose gold daytona which is amazing!. The assistant was telling me about how "sought after" these rose gold models are and how they are in "extreme demad" Now I dont know if this was a poor sales tatic or if its true.
What does everyone think here ? |

BS, I'm afraid. A sales ploy with absolutely no basis in fact.
Rose gold or "Everose" is just extra copper (and a touch of platinum with Rolex) to redden the gold. What's the point in making gold appear white or red? Gold is yellow for gawd's sake.

From Watch Time: 4. IN THE PINK Everything was coming up rose in gold watches at the Swiss fairs, for both ladies and men. A number of firms issued special pieces in rose gold only, including the Concord Saratoga Big Date, the Eberhard Postillon (with eight-day power reserve) and Hublot’s Chrono Super B. Pink was the gold of choice for a slew of special pieces, including the Girard-Perregaux Tourbillon with Three Gold Bridges skeleton automatic, the Grande Lange 1 Luna Mundi, the Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Grande Reserve, the Jules Audemars Globe, and the Piaget Emperador Tourbillon. Pink was prevalent, too, in plenty of other pieces. Patek Philippe, for example, offered a simple chronograph in rose gold (Ref. 5070 R) for the first time (suggested retail: $31,600 That said, I have no idea if the RG Daytona is more popular than the other Cosmos, but I wouldn't doubt it. It's new and everything new generates added interest. There isn't a Daytona on the market, aside from the new RG model, that you couldn't have purchased in the past few years if you wanted to. Of course, nearly all AD sales people will say anything to get you to buy a watch, especially now. If you want to buy a Cosmo and you like it in RG, then buy it. I would be AMAZED if you'd lose more money it it than other all gold models if you ever needed to sell it. I doubt we could even assess resale demand accurately on the RG since you've only been able to get one for about four months. Swiss Luxury only discounts them 4% vs 10% for WG and 18% for YG so they are actually in greater demand in the GM. |

SS, WG, Platinum, YG & TT are all more popular than Rose Gold.........
While there is nothing wrong with the Rose Gold if you ever needed or wanted to sell or trade it in the future it would be much more difficult primarily due to significantly less demand. |

I love Rose Gold - I think it's beautiful and, for me at least, preferable to yellow gold. Some very fine and beautiful watches have been made in Rose Gold, so it's certainly not a poor man's yellow gold.

Rose Gold is lovely, a lot more mellow than YG. I got the opportunity to see a RG Chronoswiss Delphis with a flyback minute hand, absolutely gorgeous. The TT Rolexes with RG centre links are very attractive too, the Lady DJs look very pretty. I haven't seen the RG Daytona as of yet, but from the pictures I've seen, it's going to be a stunner.
As for demand for it, I probably wouldn't say it's particularly sought after, but it is in short supply. I think the first few are filtering through to the UK market now, I'm not sure how many are about elsewhere. |

I posted it earlier but my local AD in London has one which he'd give a discount on below RRP. When I went in for my SDDS he said it was coming in for a client but typicaly in this climate people are just not buying and passing up on there Rolex orders so it's sat in his window display

http://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=53227 I have never been a fan of yellow gold, didnt think it suited me, however rose just made it look more wearable to me.. and I think its here to stay! its sort of in between the bright flashness of yellow gold and the subtleness of stainless steel..? |

Rose gold does look a bit too much like copper, in my opinion. However, white gold does not look like stainlees steel; it is much lighter.
