Yet again a provocative thread handled commendably (mainly) by the fine members.

Funny, I had an answer all written up for the OP, then I looked and saw the other 13 pages of responses.

If you're at $140k and you can't peel off $5k for a watch, you aint doing something right, or you're maxed out and need to swim in water that isn't over your head. I have 3 cars, 2 houses, THREE custom bikes and 3 Rolexes... and I don't "want" anything... you can always sell a Rolex, and lose little cash (if any). Buying a $10k watch isn't like financing a $20k Hardley. Most of the watches I buy, I get use out of, and get my money back when I sell them (if not more).

Justifying it is easy! A $10K+ watch now that will be easily worth $10K+ 10yrs down the road. The question is......how did you justify the beamer? Your $50K+ beamer will be worth next to nothing 10yrs from now. It probably depreciated about 1/2 the cost of a Daytona the second you drove it off the lot, if not more! But if you enjoy your car and it brings you happiness, as do the watches we wear, that is all that matters!

Like many said, it's priorities. I don't have a boat nor a BMW, but I have a brand spanking new, loli pop sucking, plastic encased Rolex from an Authorized Dealer. I've always felt that a fine watch can accompany me everywhere: even in the shower! If I had a Harley, it would sit in my garage most of the time. If I had a BMW, I'd have to leave it outside while I did other things. Boats? I love to sail. Let me rephrase that: "I LOVE TO SAIL!" but who has the time? My Rolex is always with me, my heat beating with its. I'm a salary slave who if he fails to come into work, his children fail to eat. Now, I don't buy these watches and leave them in the drawer of my nightstand for years at a time. I buy one every few years and wear it constantly. I had a friend like you who loved to travel and would drop 5-10K on a couple weeks. I guess he has his pictures and memories; I still have my watches!

Aw geez, hasn't this one died yet?
Guys, the more you open the door the more you let the smell in. Let's leave it be, shall we?

Oh for Pete's sake. I'm putting a bullet in this thread and putting it out of everyone's misery.
Wildwing, I'll thank you not to make wild and baseless asuumptions about people you don't know.
