Apple Watch 4 (anyone getting it)

I am planning to buy the new Apple Watch 4 next month when they release it.

Anyone getting it?

It does have a 15% bigger display than previous model.

Not sure about the display. My original one still works pretty well for workouts.

I still have a Apple Watch 0 Gen. I plan on getting a Version 4. Be nice to have the GPS. What sucks is my Black Stainless Gen 0 is mint and basically worth nothing.

Already have the 3 so unless there's a major change I'll be skipping.

I will add, my primary purpose of getting the 3 was to have cellular coverage while running / riding without needing to carry a phone. For that it's been great. Interestingly I've ended up wearing it more often at nights / weekends, just to not have to carry a huge phone around.

Thanks for the responses.

For those that have it; is it wrong to use it for messages, emails and sleep tracking?

I have tossed around the idea of getting one just to have one. I am an Apple user so it would make sense but idk, just haven’t.

The funny fact that during the presentation events Apple loves to compare their Apple Watch sells with Rolex, Fossil etc but in fact in other circumstances the Apple itself refused to identify their product ad wrist watch
“MOSCOW, September 14 2017 (RAPSI) – The Supreme Court has granted an appeal by Apple Rus, the Russian subsidiary of the U.S. corporation, and invalidated the Federal Customs Service’s decision on classification of Apple “smart” watches, RAPSI learnt in the court on Thursday.

The court therefore vacated lower courts’ rulings in favor of the Russian Customs.

In late 2015, the Federal Customs Service changed the classification of Apple Watch devices from duty-free communication units to ordinary wristwatches, which import custom rate may reach up to 10%.

The company disagreed with the new classification and turned to court. According to Apple Ru, Apple “smart” watches must be classified as communication units because these high-technology devices contain electronic elements.

I honestly don't get the appeal.
If the day comes where I can use a smart watch to its fullest capabilities without having my phone nearby, then I'd consider it for outdoor activities (instead of lugging a phone hiking/biking/etc.). Up until that point, if I still need my phone nearby to use an iwatch, then it's just satisfying my laziness to not have to do the monumental task of reaching in my pocket for my phone.

I’ve used the AW3 since its release. The ability to take/make phone calls, track workouts with GPS, play music and do basic texting without needing the iPhone on me is great. AirPods make good sense since talking into your watch looks lame.

I do use it to read/reply to short texts. Quick canned replies make it easy. Also allows you to easily dictate specific replies. Very useful while on a run/walk untethered from the iPhone. Also while driving in Georgia you can’t touch a phone even at a stoplight. Makes replying to important texts possible as talking to a watch is still allowed. Of course CarPlay solves that, too.

Email isn’t really useful due to concern I have about reading all the addressee’s and want to selectively reply. Email requires the phone to be with you to open the app on the watch (security log-in feature). The phone needs to be unlocked to read mail. So may as well see mail in full form.

I don’t use it for sleep tracking as it’s charging then. If you do want to do sleep track, make sure to add the other HealthApp functions like heart study, etc. Also, plan your charging time because 24hr/day usage will drain battery in 2 days. If tracking sleep with an AW, you would want to mute notifications overnight to avoid being awakened every time a reminder or notification hits the phone.

Not a fan, have some pretty cool watches and I don't plan on adding this to the collection.
