Anyone own or seen a Steinhart watch?

Lately, I've been looking for a beater watch and came across Steinhart Watches. Can anyone tell me anything about the quality or reliability of these watches. Thank you

I have owned in the past and they are good watches. The 39mm is the best bet. At 42mm they sit to high on the wrist imo.

I have a 39mm Ocean 1 GMT and for $500 honestly it’s pretty incredible. It’s my 2nd Steinhart, I had the Ocean 1 Black in 42 but it was to big for me so got rid of it. They are nice and heavy and feel very well made and mine is about 6 seconds a day off which is fine for me. Another good thing is if you don’t like it you can sell it for just about what you paid as they seem to hold their value very well.

I have the Ocean Vintage GMT and love it. Lot of bang for the buck and really good customer service. I ordered it from Gnomon and received it in 2 days. Only thing I caution with most if not all Steinharts are the lugs are pretty straight so the fit my not be for everybody.

I can't speak for the one you are looking at but I do have an Ocean Black, it scratched the itch for a "black" watch/beater. For the price, I'm happy. The only issue I've had was a screw fell out of the bracelet and the watch fell off. I lost the screw but replaced it with one from an extra link. Put a little locktite on them and hasn't happened again. IMO - good value for the price.

I did need to send mine back to Steinhart once and immediately after receipt for two issues, those being misalignment of the GMT hand against the markers (when keeping good time) and drastic movement of the GMT hand with wrist movement during a certain portion of the 24 hour cycle, but they had it shipped back and forth on their dime and resolved the QC issues to my satisfaction.

That said, I love this one, as it resembles the Batman and takes cues from the Explorer II with the GMT hand, but also does its own thing unapologetically. A great watch, IMHO.

I picked up this Steinhart last week as they were just receiving a new batch that sold out in less than 48 hours over the weekend. So far I'm very pleased with the quality of the materials and workmanship. The time keeping is spot on as well. Money well spent in my opinion.

I had the same problem with my Steinhart GMT watch. The GMT hand would just move a bit now and then so it was completely unreliable. I sold it.

The Ocean Vintage GMT looks great. I might order one just because I like the 1655 but can't justify the $15,000+ price tag that they're going for nowadays.

I was thinking just the same thing. I've had a couple of 1665 homages, the best being the MKii capstone but 42mm is too big for me. I'm glad this comes in 39mm.

I’ve owned three steinharts and they are great for the price. They do tend to wear large

I have a pilot with ETA. One of the most accurate watches I own. Hardly wear it though.

I was looking for a Bronze diver and bought the Steinhart. Great watch, and best bang for the $$ in the bronze watch field.

I bought my first Steinhart (Ocean 1, blue bezel, black face) in June 2007. I wore it daily, only taking it off to sleep or shower, for 9&1/2 years.

It still keeps chronometer grade accuracy when wound. I know it's a straight up Submariner homage but, for the then (2007) price of around $300, I've can't imaging a better bang for my buck.

It held up through everything that I did over those years, and despite scuffs and scratches all over, the steel, the sapphire crystal is still unblemished. The lugs are straighter than i would choose, but my wrist is flat on top and it wears fine.

I have had a few other watches in the last couple years, all good but none better.

I ordered an Ocean One Bronze (Light Brown) last week, and received it from their home in Germany in a day and a half! I had been wanting a bronze watch for a while, and while the Tudor Black Bay Bronze is great in many ways, my limited fixed income won't allow that kind of expenditure. The Ocean One Bronze Light Brown is the model that is visually the most similar to the Black Bay.
It's already developing a nice brownish gray patina, and so far it's accuracy is spot on with my Scurfa Diver One quartz watch.

So yeah, I recommend Steinhart. Great value for the money, and good customer service in my experience.

P.S. Even with the shipping costs, my PayPal transaction with Steinhart though their website was still less expensive than buying it through Gnomon.

Looks very nice at a deep discount to its inspiration.

I own and daily wear a Steinhart Ocean One Titanium 500. This is a heck of a watch! Sure, it’s not a luxury brand, but it punches far above its weight. I can’t recommend it enough. I’d post pics, but I’m too new (post count related).

I’m eyeing a white Steinhart Ocean Two. So cool...
