Help with Removing diver strap

I posted an incoming that I got a new to me AP diver yesterday. I’m trying to swap the strap and I’m having trouble with one side. I can’t seem to get either screw out. I think it’s because I can’t get a good fit with my screwdriver. It feels maybe like it’s stripped. Any suggestions?

Are you using two screwdrivers? You should be using two screwdrivers, one on each side. Not sure if youre doing this.

Yeah I was using two.

I finally got it out! But I’m afraid to screw then back together as they’re a little stripped. Maybe I should try and order a new set.

Good to have some backups as I’ve lost a couple nuts changing straps. You really did a number on those. Do you have the proper screw driver size? Changing AP straps isn’t all that hard once you’ve had some practice.

I bought it pre-owned so they were 80% already that way. I probably did the other 20% trying. Do you just call AP to get a new one?

What’s the perfect screwdriver size?

I’d call Clearwater. Maybe they will send you some. They are generally very accommodating even if you have to pay it will be money well spent.

Out of curiosity did you use a hairdryer to hear it up at all? I assume they use loctite but frankly I’ve never removed an offshore strap. Only sized the 15202.

Yes I would give them a call to get some new screws. There were a couple of threads recently about ROO screwdriver sizes if you look back through which may help.

Just as a follow up. I called Clearwater. At first they wanted to charge me $45 for the entire screw kit which includes all the screws the watch needs.

After talking with them for a short while they agreed to mail me replacement strap screws free of charge. Kudos to APSC.

Not a bad result - and actually even $45 sounds like a more than fair price considering what it is.

AP customer service really does seem to cut the mustard !!

Keep in mind that the screws may be fixed with glue.
So heat up the screws with a hairdrier before you attempt to remove them.

And they must be secured with (special) glue when you put in the new screws as well.

It's just green loctite.....can buy at any Home Depot.
