Advise/Suggestions on watch #2

Hi all,

Last year I bought my Rolex 214270. I love this watch...everything about it perfect, for me. Lately, I’ve been feeling the need to add a second to my “collection”. I thought I wanted a polar 216570. I tried one on and I liked it...but couldn’t get myself to love it. I wanted to love it, badly. Admittedly, I did so much research on Rolex during my initial search, I’m pretty ignorant to other brands. I went to my local AD yesterday and tried on Breitlings (which didn’t really do it for me), Omega’s and Tudors (their SS Rolex selection is sparse, which didn’t come as a huge surprise). I liked the Omegas more than I though I would and they had one Tudor GMT on the strap which I also liked.

What I wish I could have is the new Rolex GMT, but that isn’t going to happen anytime soon given the availability and grey market pricing. So, if YOU had a budget of $6-7k, what would you be looking at?

Thanks!

I'd just get an Omega Goodplanet GMT.

If were me, and I was that close, $ wise, to many great Rolex models....I’d save a bit more and get a Rolex I loved. I wouldn’t “settle” just for the sake of adding to my collection. B U T.... I’m a Rolex diehard! I have/had other makes, and I really like some, but as I said... if I were that close....

A LN GMT shouldn't be too hard to come by. The BLNR is going to take a few months at best. Both will be over your stated budget for new. However, I would say save up and hold out for the one you like the most. You will always doubt a secondary choice and in this community that leads directly to another watch. Hold out, save up, be resolute.

Exactly this. You can ask any of us who have had large collections and when you add a watch just to "add a watch" you get excited for a bit, but then it wears off. You see this watch not as a joy but "I should have saved this money and applied it to x." Save yourself the ache and just be patient, I think you will have a GMT quicker than you think.

I’d hold out and save for the one you really want. Settling for anything less wont work long term

I would snap up that Tudor GMT in a heartbeat, but that's me.

For you, it sounds like you haven't figured out what you want yet. Make that your next step.

Be patient, keep trying on as many watches as you can, and let yourself fall in love with a watch you can't live without. Then, go get it.

I'd go the Grand Seiko route

I would go for the Tudor GMT but that's is based on personal preference.

agree, but to me that tudor GMT is a good alternative for the short term or even for the long term as they are sufficiently different i would have both.
