Is it easier to obtain a Submariner in Los Angeles County than in other places?
I started getting into watches a year ago after I had seen two of my customers with some really nice ones, one with a sub date and another that walked in with a Tudor. Not sure what got me so fascinated but I just loved the look of them and the mechanics of an automatic watch. I became a little obsessed lol. My girlfriend even got annoyed of me talking about it.
Since then I saved up for one and decided I could finally get one. Called up a local AD at Baron and Leads, said she would put me on the waiting list. I got a call from her two weeks later and she said she had one for me. I was in portland unfortunately and couldnt get it. I got home and called another AD, Hing Wa Lee, we texted and she said they are hard to come by and then all of a sudden an hour later, called me and said it was available... i was skeptical, i dont know why. Please keep in mind I felt this way only because I read all over the web and see on youtube how long it takes for people to get these. I decided not to purchase from hing wa lee. A week later, I called Baron and Leads, the rep said the same thing. the whole spiel about it being hard to come by and they don't have any at the moment, an hour later she calls and said one just came up... So my question is, does rolex just ship more to Los Angeles region because they know the demand is more while every other city and state elsewhere get it less? I did buy the watch. Submariner no date, the one i wanted. LOVE IT! |

It's hard to say, but SoCal is possibly the biggest market in the US if you factor the population.
The more legit the sales staff are at ADs, the higher the transparency. Hing Wa Lee is a big player in the Valley. Every AD size up random walk-ins who inquire on hot models. If you keep a good relationship with "your" sales associate, they will treat you better when you're looking for your next watch. Building a relationship is all about developing a healthy balance of give and take. |

Orange County (neighboring) might be even better. South Coast Plaza has a very large Rolex Boutique as you found out (owned by Baron and Leads). Traditional Jewelers (soon to be renamed Hyde Park) in Fashion Island (Newport Beach) maintains a very impressive selection from not only Rolex but many find brands.

Gearys has the BH, Century City & Santa Monica locations. They get top inventory as well in my experience.
