Where we draw a line
Between a flipper and someone who's just moving his Rolex collection?

Where we draw a line
I’ve gots watch I’m probably going to sell. After several wears I’ve decided it’s not for me. Thank GOD Rolex watches have a strong reputation & great resale. If not I’d take big losses instead of breaking even or loosing a fraction of the cost.
P.S. I’ve been called a lot worse than a flipper. Richard B. #16013 datejust, #216580 Explorer 2 (PVD’d), #16710 Pepsi#218238 yg President, #116610LV Hulk, #126600 Sea dweller |

Every AD's a flipper, buying, and selling quickly for a profit!
How disgusting! |

So if you post an incoming thread and then sell the watch here some weeks later instead of losing some money selling it do a professional dealer you're not a flipper?

We had a guy a couple of years ago who did several build-up incoming posts for a new DaytonaC, then posted it for sale the same day he received it. He is no longer with us.
A few weeks is ok, though. A change of heart, a change of direction, circumstances or whatever, can happen in a few weeks.

I don’t know if we can crucify someone because they purchased a highly anticipated watch and flip it for profit. The grey dealers doing exactly that and we praise them, it’s double standard if you ask me.
Most of my watches are purchase for an intended purpose but things change and people feelings and circumstances change. I like my sport car this weekend but next week I rather drive my SUV for comfort. Watches are more of an emotional swing, I change my mind about watches more than any of my toys. Free world and capitalism is what so great about our western society. That’s just my opinions!!! |

I go through watches pretty quickly but my intention is to buy them for myself. I just don't know if I will bond with it until I wear it a few days. Or sometimes I just grow tired of a watch. I might make a hundred or two here and there but overall I'm way down.

Through the years I have had an endless amount of watches.
Sometimes the same one multiple times. I always bought with the intent to love and hold. Always hoping it’ll stick I had found the one. When that faded or I wanted something else, I’d use the funds created from the sale of one, to fund the other. Never have I bought a watch with the intent to just sell and turn a profit. But I don’t judge people that do. It’s just not my thing. But for sure, I’m a flipper. Much reformed these days, but I’ll still move watches along if need be.

I might just have found “the one” recently. I’ve got high hopes.

He who moves heaven and earth to acquire the watch and then sells it for an obscene profit without even trying it on.

Personally, I think it's your money/watch do whatever you want but...if you get a hot watch then to just to flip it right away for a profit then maybe you can't afford it, sorry I don't mean to offend anyone.

It's only natural that a lot of us don't have warm feelings for someone who purchased a watch to flip it the same day and take away the chance of others buying it for msrp to keep and love and wear. And it's all too natural to want to make money, I get it. But I'd say greys make a living doing this. It's what they do, to pay the bills and put food on the table. Caviar or not Sigh. It's a game of patience or unlimited disposable income.

I wouldn’t disrespect my Rolex or Patek AD by purchasing a hard to find watch from them to sell it quickly for a profit. I don’t begrudge somebody for flipping their pieces, though. It’s their money, watch, and AD relationship.

I would have zero regrets or hesitation in buying a hard to get watch and flipping it the same exact day for maximum profit. It's my watch and I do whatever i want with it, without having to put a label of "flipper". All grey dealers are flippers.

Yep, that pretty much sums up a flipper. In the long, unless you are a grey dealer, you might make a few grand. Maybe you get really lucky and get two hard to find watches and make 8-10k? But, don’t ever fall for one of the ones you let go. The second trip to the AD to buy the same watch they know you sold for maximum profit, likely is not happening. Buying and selling the same day is gross IMO. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

For a collector, I've had many Rolexes come and go after enjoying them for awhile. I've lost money when I've sold/traded each one, so that's the opposite of a flipper.
Heck of all the watches I've owned, only one has lasted long enough to need servicing, but I expect that to change with the current collection. |

many (still enjoying the journey)....haven’t made a dime yet Don’t want to think about the $ amount lost, but still no regrets :) Right now, thankfully....very content. I’ve never bought a piece yet, with the intention to sell. For those that do....well....to each their own |
