7 year wait

I was at 5th Ave NYC Rolex boutique browsing with my Daytona C black dial on and was told there is a 7 year wait for SS daytona at their boutique. And of course there were zero SS professional models and not a single GMT in stock of any kind. Insanity!

Throwing out an absurd # is their way of saying "don't waste our time asking." If they said that outright, it would sound rude and cause to walk.

Daytona C was released like 3 years ago. Where ya been? If you had put your name back then, then you should have received it by now. If you're late to the game, then tough luck... Don't blame Rolex or anyone else...

I bet 80% of the folks on the waitlist don't care about the Daytona, but only hoping to flip it for quick money... LOL.

well, how many people do you imagine have gone into this major AD on 5th Avenue and requested a Daytona ? Even if it were just 20 a day, that's over 7000/yr. Divide that by the number of Daytona's you imagine they have received...

In Canada, DayC is about $14K cad.
Greys want min $26K cad.
It’s not just a few $ ....
it’s almost double.

Maybe my post was confusing. I have a Daytona C but was just visiting NY boutique. Surprised to hear wait is still THAT long...and getting longer. Hoping Rolex opens up supply soon

At your rate of exchange that would be an even bigger joke.

If you bought one from the States think of NZ34000 - NZ$37000 For an SS ceramic Daytona.

After 7 years from now, Rolex will probably released a new model.

You won't be interested in this one anyone, and queuing for the new model.

That would be plausible if the history of SS Daytona availability was not known.

Oh, silly me. I guess I should insist on waiting 7 weeks, paying msrp and spending 100k on precious metal pieces and jewelry to build a relationship with the AD. That makes far more sense...

You posted here so you’re are obviously not over it.

I am happy with my old model M Daytona.

Would I pay an extra AU$10000 for a ceramic bezel?

I think it's a 17 year wait.

Same to me, I don't want a SS Daytona.

agreed. Even with the demand no one is actually going to wait seven years to get a daytona. Almost everyone who got on a list at launch has gotten one by now assuming their AD was willing to sell them one. It might feel like seven years.

For NYC 7 years is pretty short, they must have a hundred plus names down, thought they would say 20 to never.

Not everyone is willing to pay grey prices.
If that was the case im sure we would all be rocking SS Daytona's and Blue SkyDwellers, Batmans and SS BLRO's LOL

you could take the retail price, invest it and when you make enough to pay the grey price then buy it... that could probably happen before you get the call from the AD. Meanwhile people are paying deposits at no interest with an unknown time frame which makes less sense.

No. You were very clear. People just skim a post and jump to quick conclusions on what you were trying to say. TRF has gotten toxic in the last 2 years with the influx of flipping threads and “investment threads”. My personal favorites are the flippers complaining about getting jumped in line.

I went inside the NY Wempe Rolex Boutique when Rolex first announced the Daytona. The saleswoman said it’s a 10 year wait back then. The book on the waiting list was closed.

I totally agree with you. I paid in advanced and in full for my Daytona C. Luckily my wait time was two months.
