I tried the Snowflake in Paris last month. It's beautiful, but it def didn't do it for me, which was a real bummer. Admittedly, I also prefer smaller watches, so if it was thinner and 39mm (and had the case shape of the current ~39mm crop of GS models), I think I'd have felt much differently about it. It is pretty freakishly lightweight, too. Man I wanted to love it...

Couldn't go wrong either way, but I think you've made a great choice with the Snowflake. It's like nothing else. Enjoy!

Just tried this watch on today at my first visit to a GS AD. Holy s$&@! The dial and finishing on that watch were nuts. Especially under a loupe. For the money I’m hard pressed to see a fault in it. The dial is far beyond any Rolex I can think of and the case was just about perfect as well. My only hang up is I prefer a Swiss aesthetic over Japanese. That said, for the right price I may have to add this one.

I am seriously looking into the snowflake. I am not sure when they first started making these with the spring drive movement. Did they make them with the old logo and now with the new logo? When was logo changed?

New dial layout without SEIKO came in across the board last year, and yes you can get Snowflakes with either old or new.

Congrats! Seiko gives so much value for the money up and down their product lines. I'd make the same decision you did. For what that's worth

Only available as a Spring Drive model, first produced in 2006/7, iirc.
