DD40 Roman owners: Do you ever miss lume?

I’ve had my eye on a WG DD for a while. My two favorite dials are the blue romans and the dark rhodium sticks. Blue is my favorite color, but I’m worried I would miss lume. Any DD Roman owners out there who miss lume? Am I overthinking?

I am happy with my WG DD blue, but I would tell you that the combination of the dial and the lack of lume make it more difficult to tell time. In hindsight, I probably should have gotten a stick dial DD.

Not a DD but my SkyD with romans has only a little lume on the hands. I do miss legibility in the dark but I find the overall beauty of the romans to be more important. Chose form over function in this case

i feel like nowadays people keep their phones next to them at all times so like mentioned above i would personally prioritize the beauty of a dial i want vs lume

I have a couple of the WG....never miss the lume. But...I never use it on the pieces I do have with lume. Rarely in a situation, for any length of time, where it’s dark enough, long enough, to need it.
I can never remember a time when I’ve had one of these on, and said....man...I wish this had lume right now. If so, pull out the phone

I love this one! I tried it on recently just to see how it would look on my average wrist since anything over 41mm is hit or miss. It’s not as bad as the 15400st which wears larger than 41 imo. I wouldn’t pay full retail (49 ish) but it is one I’m considering. I love the look of rose gold. I’m not sure whether I prefer the romans or the new sticks yet.

I don't miss it at all... I only check the time on my DD during the day. At night I check the time on my cellphone.

I'd give up the lume for those Roman numerals. The Roman numerals on the current DD 40 are my favorite Roman numerals from Rolex (if that's even a thing ).

Sometimes I do miss lume. Evening strolls or in the car at night.

i have the DD40 YG with silver dial with romans. i missed the lume and i had the dial changed to the diagonally striped white/silver one with batons and lume. it was pretty dead at dark and legibility during daytime was worse than the silver/roman so i had it changed back to silver/roman. now i am pretty happy, the dial is very nice, daytime legibility is great and it is not bad when a little bit of light is around.

Nope. I've got plenty of watches with great lume.

Yep.

Seriously, get the one you like the best and leave the lume out of the equation. Trust me.

Yep I missed the lume bigtime, hence one of the contributing reasons why I bought my YG DD40 with sticks. In a dark environment its very very difficult to read the time to me.

Now I have the best of both worlds.

Have yet to actually use lume once ever, even on my subs or SDs, let alone a DD. I mean to me it's a novelty on the rare occasion I'm in blight light and enter underground parking or a dim room and reminded it's there.

I wouldn't and didn't give up a watch that sings to me because of the lack of lume. In my case it was the slate grey roman DJ41. DD40 WG with the blue roman dial would be my choice hands down.

I prefer lume all else equal. But, all else is NOT equal. My olive dd40 romans is to die for.

I chose the stick dial over Romans because I wanted the lume. It helps not only at night but also during the day.

My good friend (and fellow TRF-er) also chose “wisely!”

I really don't ever use any lume on any of my watches......it looks cool on certain pieces when it's glaring coming in from the sun that's about it. So no....don't miss anything on my olive DD.

Don't miss it on my DD40. I don't seem to use/need it on my SD43.

Interesting perspective I hadn’t considered. Thanks!

It's weird, I don't ever "need" the lume but I enjoy seeing it glow when I go from a bright place to a dim place. With that said, I will still get a DD40 with deconstructed Romans over the batons.

Here is my watch in my office - nothing unusual about the lighting, but at the wrong angle, it can be difficult to tell time.

Makes sense. But I just say, that watch is truly beautiful.
