It’s interesting to see how prices vary at AD’s in different parts of the world.
then again, you probably didn't have an AD saying i have one for sale and you can buy it for X price. Its a catch 22 as to why the watch is "available" at all.

True enough

I have however inquired, (ok I’ve pleaded) with my AD for a BLRO and he’s quoting my list price. I also turned down a skydweller blue dial at MSRP.

That quote is legally to protect whatever Rolex entity is responsible for the site from claims being raised against that entity or Rolex SA by someone who buys a watch from an AD and finds out someone else paid less. Or is unable to purchase a watch for the price indicated on the website. Nothing more, nothing less.

It has nothing to do with Rolex pricing policy in individual world markets and the ADs Rolex contract with in those markets.

UK Rolex ADs are contractually bound not to sell a new watch over the advertised suggested retail price. Unless both the owner of the chain I spoke to and the Rolex rep were plain lying to me.
The suggested price means very little today, the minimum Advertised Price (MAP) is a current hot issue in retailing. By agreement with the manufacturer retailers cannot advertise an item for less than the MAP price. MAP pricing protects local business that stock their shelves with branded products. Many online retailers often ignore MAP pricing and manufacturers are hard pressed to enforce MAP prices. The bottom line is, retailers are free to sell items for any price they like, but not to advertise very low prices which I would doubt you would see at any Rolex AD.But agree they all should sell at suggested retail but in the real world some do charge more, and many do pay more and glad to pay to get watches like Daytona C.

I don’t agree with this, I waited two weeks to get my Sub in October 2016. I only waited six months to get my BLNR in July 2018. (I’m using the BLNR to make my point here).

its more a reflection on the retail price than anything. Its a great watch, underpriced probably, but not hugely so. The market disagrees currently.

I think everyone just wants Rolex to make more which is fair enough, but an AD using the Disneyland model of charging extra to skip the lines is making them available... for a price.

I agree, Rolex could be charging more to begin with ... there I said it

You're comparing apples to oranges.
OP referred Hulks and BLROs. Try sourcing either from a UK AD in two weeks without an extensive history. You'd have no chance. Black Subs and BLNRs are different fruits to these two.
