Changing 118138 leather strap without scratching the lug?

Anyone has experience changing 118138 leather strap without scratching the lug cause by the pin ? The width of leather strap is tight fit with the width of the lug..

Thx in advance

You absolutely need to tape off the lugs with blue painters tape or quality scotch tape. You also need quality forks on your tool. The strap will move over enough to do this. You only need to work on one side. You will get very very minor springbar drag marks on the inside of the lugs but no one will see them.

^^This but don't use painters tape. It rips very easily. Use electrical tape.
