The market is going to be flooded next year. I know a ton of guys that have made loans on Rolex, it appears as if very few will be redeemed. Unless prices drop significantly I want to be cashed (not Rolex(ed)) up with money on the sidelines. Cash will be king now and in the immediate future more than ever. I will get my Father an SD 4000 that’s the only definite purchase for me.

If AD's are not moving merchandise now, doubt there will be another increase and some pre-owned watches have to drop, look its USED, no factory warranty, needs service, and its still USED. Besides consumers are holding back, if your 401K took a 50% loss are you really in the market for a 6K SS watch???

I'm less enthused...In 2009 I'm more enthused in keeping a roof over our heads!!!!

Seriously, I wanted a Pepsi GMT this Christmas but with the way the "credit crunch" has squeezed out the uk construction market, I'll be waiting until 2010.

My enthusiasm for nice, well-made, rugged watches is still as high as ever. In 2008 I bought the Milgauss GV and Submariner LV, together with an orange Omega Planet Ocean Coaxial Seamaster and a blue TAG Heuer Aquaracer. I hope to add either the Deep Sea or Sinn 1000s soon in 2009.

I think it will be a year of significant AD discounts, despite Rolex's previous attitude to the practise.

I think it will be a significant drop in sales figures.

You seen the latest reports about Vauxhall (GM Motors UK)? Asking workers to take 8 month lay off for 30% pay...all motor engineering firms looking to follow suit.

Be a tight year for most in the expensive manufacturing sector!!!!!!!!!!

Should just add to my doom and gloom....

If there are discounts it becomes a buyers market and that is a good thing for us, the watch buying public (if we can afford it!) however the stark warnings of Rolex pulling AD status to those who aren't shifting stock if a little worrying, even if it does reinvogorate the prestige in the brand.

Had a look at a few grey dealers on the web today in the hope of finding a cheap vintage Omega and noticed they are still asking inflated prices for preowned on all models...1970's DJ in steel...£2250???!!!????

We have a long, long way to go before we get to a Rolex BOGOF!!!!!!!!!!!!

With the vintage market making a severe correction, this could be the time of a lifetime to pick up some truly nice pieces substantially less than they have been in years. I am pretty excited about what is happening now.

Hi Scott,
The vintage market in the Uk needs more than a correction.

It needs a complete reality check....

Regards Mike.

I am still enthusiastic as the others. As most, money talks....gotta have the spare green to get that dream watch. I hope 09 will bring me another Rolex, either a YM or another Sub of some sort. Just need to have good fortune. The way things are going economically, it's hard to tell. I wish all the members of TRF the best in 09 and hope we all have a few bucks left to get ourselves a nice treasure, preferably a Rolex.

I'm very enthusiastic about the aspect of purchasing my 2nd Rolex. I plan on giving my 1st rolex (date) to my Father, who had his stolen in a recent robbery =(

I plan on purchasing the Deep Sea .. hopefully I can get a discount by 4/09 and walk out with it for about 8K.. I know keep dreaming =(
