possibly?
all the big shots wanted to invest with him and his amazing rates.

A financier complained against him and his Ponzi scheme practice years ago but nothing was done

So he will get 5-7 years and a 5 million dollar fine. Once he gets out, he'll fly to Zurich and withdraw his billions. Unless his family already did. Another end result on the deregulation of wall street.

Sure they will be able to freeze assets and re distribute them, but you think the guy that stole $50 billion didn't have the foresight, to store and hide some of that money so that in case the $*t hit the fan, so that he would be financially prepared if he went away.

yeah for sure but this guy has affected massive companies all over the world. Sure he will have put stuff in his wife's name etc but if that was done in the last ten years then (in the UK, not sure about US or internationally) they can still take this back 'IF' he is held personally responsible.

This guy will do some time...probably less than 3 years when all is said and done. then he'll be let out to collect the hidden stashes, and out of all the billions in paper value he had most will have been liquidated at pennies on the dollar. That's happening right now in the markets.

...but at the end of the day, he'll live out his life with paltry millions....200 or so. And no one will ever be able to touch him.

was it worth is to him...

you bet your a$$ it was

His wife is under investigation, too.

So far, Rolex has not shown up on any list of investors that I've seen.

I'm hoping that it stays that way.

More than anything, I'm glad I bought my Rolex when I did.

I agree he could have just pulled a Marc Rich and fled to Switzerland, Cayman islands, Venezuela, Panama. Countries that have no extradition laws on white collar crimes. But I guess he got off on the fact that he wasn't caught, until now. He pushed his luck and finally lucked out.

Rich was a little different in that basically he defrauded the G...which in the end IS the taxpayer (and I dunno about you but I pay a LOT of taxes), but isn't the killer of pensions and charitable trusts that Madoff will likely be.

Honestly I don't care even a little about the people who had millions and wanted more. There are ways to do that yourSELF if you take even a little bit of time to research, but greed knows no bounds. Guess you make your own bed....

....The rats are jumping of the ship now, which is good. I remember this from 72 and again in 88-89....and though it seems bad now, this is NOTHING. Aside from real estate, things just aren't that bad, and for those of us who see their house as primarily a place to live, there's nothing to sweat...unless you used it as an ATM...

...in which case you might be SOL, but that's no one elses fault,,,

AMEN, I saw this news report of this sheriff in Dallas, who is basically the undertaker, he kicks out owners of foreclosed homes who refuse to leave the residence, even though the bank owns it now. This woman was crying in front of her home, it was a new construction, 6,000+ SQ FT Mansion backyard overlooks a country club golf course, and it was gated. I felt no remorse, if you can't afford the house, why try and purchase it in the first place? to people who try to keep up with the Joneses.

Will not "just" show up on any list as "ROLEX SA" there will be a cover name to conceal the true identity; we may never know...

You are dreaming. He will get a lot more than 3 years--and he will scrape together some money when he gets out but it won't be 200 million.

Rolex has denied losing any money in the Madoff scheme. Whether that's true or not I can't say. Only that they've denied it.
