Buying pre-owned online

anyone here had experience buying from sites like Chrono24, watchfinder.com, etc…? especially shipping overseas…please share experience good or bad. They always seem to have a great collections of pre-owned (or new) or discontinued ref., at quite reasonable prices. Just makes me wonder how safe/legit it is.

Mostly good sales but theres also plenty of scams. If you use the search feature and also go review the watchout section theres a wealth of knowledge here. On this forum you will always here from the older guard to "Buy the seller" which is prudent advice. The money you save may be your own.

I’m currently selling on Chrono24, their process seems pretty sound. What I like is that money goes into an escrow account until the buyer is satisfied with the goods then that money is transferred. Also sales fees are pretty low. Scammers are everywhere though hence me being hesitant to advertise in other places. Watchfinder seem ok but offer lowball quotes when buying. I’ll probably aim to buy a couple of watches from them once I’ve sold mine. Hope that helps?

Zero protection in case things go sour. Do a thorough search and the stories will show. Oh, and everybody is a trusted seller

Buy directly from a well known vintage dealer and ask the right questions. You may pay top dollar but it's the only way I would ever consider buying a classic piece.
So many vintage watches are doctored with that I stay completely away from it, let alone buying it on the sites you mentioned.

Bought and sold with Watchfinder quite a lot over the years, they are reputable in my experience. They have a high mark up on their SS Rolex sports watches though, supply and demand sadly.

Just make sure there are enough pictures before you pull the trigger. I bought a DJ once from a seller with 40+ feedbacks that didn't have clear enough pictures of the rehaut and dial. Then when it came there were two dust specs on the dial. And the rehaut was the pre-lasered version. It was authentic though.

Plus, the hands were wrong but that is another story. Anyways I ended up sending it back and buying new.
