my $.02 is that they're going to bump it up 10-15% anyways. what do we ever get out of it or who know what it's for? might as well get a nice box out of it if I'm going to pay $25K for a watch.

To me the box is not important at all. With so many boxes taking up my valuable storage space, I wish they don't come with a box at all. I just hope that I did not pay a premium for their subpar packaging -- all cost goes to the watch instead.

If they can only make a box with a winder. that'll be perfect as it will serve it's purpose as something that's functional and useful. they can take it out of my 10-15% annual increase.

Fancy box just means they will make the price fancier too!

If I'm paying $30k+ plus for a new Rolex Daytona in gold or a DD is it to much to ask to get a better box then a new $4k Air-King? Just because its a little bigger box doesn't make it better. Get with the program Rolex and spend some of those profits in a better box and less on Billboard ads.

Just a thought. How about the box comes as an option like buying a new car. The standard box will cost almost nothing for Rolex to produce. Then, one may choose an optional wood, leather, or even exotic wood and exotic skin box. Those optional boxes will have engraved serial number that matches the watch's. That should satisfy every one's need and Rolex can make more money on boxes. Win win situation.

I feel your pain. I just bought my dad a Luminox 1822 for Christmas, and the box was nicer than the box for my Rolex. I wasn't really disappointed with the Rolex box, just Impressed with Luminox.

Got to agree with you on this. The Rolex boxes are just awful compared to Panerai & Omega.

X2 Plus their billboards are as old as the booklets they include with the watch!

In the end we buy watches, not boxes... Both my EXP II and SS SUB Date came with boxes which were tossed away in my night stand.

I would rather Rolex continue to make high quality products than cut corners so they can have nicer boxes...

And I'm sure they spend a fortune on the actual manfacture of the watches we buy, should the boxes be any different.

30K = A car or a Rolex with 2.5oz of solid gold content
6K= An ATV, Jetski, Motorcycle or a SS Sub with less than 5 bucks of steel in it
