This isn't surprising.
It certainly does reinforce the idea of frequent hand-washing, as you stated, and don't forget those nasty, restroom doorknobs.

I don't understand why everyone wants this crap. Same for Walmart with the self checkout. Why am I doing someones job? And if I am, why aren't the prices for my stuff less if I use the self checkout??

It is disgusting to witness people who don't wash their hands after using facilities in public restrooms.

Reason #2712 for me not to leave my cave.
McDonalds is certainly disgusting...please, just don’t ask me why I have a two for one Big Mac coupon sitting on my counter that has been taunting me for weeks. And for some weird reason this article doesn’t make it go away...well maybe a little Excuse me but people just seem to be a filthy animal. Even though we try, well...some of us try...some of us still can’t seem to stay clean. Maybe I should just keep my blinders on...where’s the blue pill Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

If on a road trip, always keep a pocket size package of baby wipes in your pocket. You never know how handy they are when in a road side restroom! Wipe down touch screens on phone, laptop etc. with Zeiss lens wipes. They do a good job, besides cleaning eyeglass lenses. |

I use and recommend Nano 24/7 active hand sanitizer. It works all day long as a germ barrier and doesn't wash off. No scent and easy on the skin, a couple of spritzes in the morning and your good all day.

Those hand air dryers have been tested and found they blow germs and feces throughout the room.

I think there is a point is being missed. This bacteria is on the touchscreens that the McDonalds patrons use to order food. There is no reference to the use of a public restroom. Where is it coming from?
Maybe people in general are not very clean. Pay close attention to everything you touch from when when you start to take care of business until you finish and then what do you touch before your hands are cleaned and then do your hands go back to touch anything again where they can get infected again. I’m just saying, I think it’s a flawed system. It’s weird that our hands have to go anywhere near there. I want a home test kit now to test around my home and office. Haha. Compute keyboards are the worst. Your actually better eating off of a public toilet seat than your computer keyboard.

What filth. I don’t care how many times per day I wash my hands or use a hand-sanitizer. Reading an article like this makes me glad I do so!

it was drummed into me as a kid to keep clean, but many people were not parented correctly i am afraid,
i think if we knew the whole truth, we would not eat out, if i get a gut feeling about a place, i just walk, i seem to be doing a lot of walking these days. a high percentage of places should be shut down from what i have witnessed. |

Think about that the next time you go all fancy and order the '61 Lafite from that electronic iPad wine list.

A clean body is a healthy body, I was brought up hearing. I wash my hands a lot during the day and especially before bed time. I try to use my knuckle when using touch screens and pushing buttons and keep my hand off of guide rails. For door handles I use my shirt to grab them or paper towel if in a public rest room, it it's a push door I use my elbow. I try. I do not offer to shake hands if is see and aquantance while out eating and if they offer theirs while I'm eating I just figure they haven't been taught and don't know any better. All a person can do is try.

A good friend of mine worked as a chef in a nice local restaurant. After the stories I’ve heard I’m amazed I actually still go out for dinner.

Many apologies... I broke into a thread I started. Indeed the article does not address bathrooms. With specific reference to order touch screens, it does describe the etiology of the various bacteria that were found to exist thereon that can make us very ill. I confess, I am guilty for the 'morphing'. DM

I've been single handedly keeping Purell (Pfizer I guess) in business for years and don't mind one bit. Frequent hand washing as well and avoiding contact with surfaces in public when possible.

The problem with hand sanitizer such as Purell is that the next thing you touch you are contaminated again. Better to use an active germ barrier like Nano.

Just imagine your typical tv remote control at a hotel. Gas pumps. ATM machines.
All mens bathroom floors are covered in some level of urine so if you wear your shoes in your house guess what. We are surrounded by strangers bodily fluids/germs so unless you want to end up like Howard Hughes it's probably best to not think too deeply on this subject.

God gave us an immune system for a reason !
Too much anti bacterial sprays and wipes etc aren't doing us any favours as a species and in some ways are actually a bad thing if over subscribed! We need a certain amount of bad bacteria in our bodies in order for it to produce anti bodies etc to help us fight off infection naturally. Having said that I'm not suggesting licking a public restroom door handle in order to help build up our immune systems, but you know what I mean.. Sent from my Moto G (5) using Tapatalk
