The dial is pure black - it's just my smartphone not doing its job properly *sigh*

BBB with Rubber B so that makes it 4B's! Also that's my bento box for lunch.
It's so comfortable and more suitable in water than Tudor nato strap. |

Hi, I am a fairly new user to this forum, and it has been incredibly informative so far. It’s a longish story that may put some of you to sleep, but I’m just pretty excited still about my recent entry to this universe.
Until fairly recently, the horological world was one that I was completely detached from. Interested was zilch. Not that I was unaware the the common mass luxury brands of course, since they’re so ubiquitous, especially on a subconscious level. We’re often looking at a Rolex advertisement without even realising it. I’d even heard of Tudor, with David Beckham and Lady Ga Ga plastered all over. But I was never interested until some article showed up on my Google feed one day about the Tudor Black Bay. I read it, the article was very complimentary toward the watch, and the brand. So my interest was piqued, and I suspect that somewhere in my subconscious, I think I had been looking for something like this. Something that appealed to me at this stage in my life (unfortunately a Ferrari is out of the question for me in my country) when I feel that I can finally treat myself to something ‘nice-ish’. Yes, I am in a very clearly understood demographic by Rolex and other such makers. Anyway it was only upon reading that article that I actually knew about Tudor’s association with Rolex. So I read up on some of the Black Bay models (I knew even based on my limited knowledge that I wanted a divers watch, or at the very least, not a dress watch), and was intrigued. I also read up on Rolexes (mainly submariners). I knew I could only afford a steel one at this time, and I certainly had no idea then that they might be near impossible to get at an AD. Anyway I quickly decided that for my first foray, it might perhaps be a better idea to start with something cheaper, so I wouldn’t feel as bad if I didn’t like what I ended up with. So one day I walked into a Tudor AD. I was still pretty clueless about the differences between all the black bays. I casually asked about the 58 and the GMT, and was told neither were available. The sales guy was very quick to try to steer me away from questions about those two, and towards the regular BB red, blue or black. I really liked them as well, and my only misgiving was the case size and thickness. I’d never worn big watches before. He tried with all his might to persuade me that whatever I had on my wrist then was perfect for me. And in my enthusiasm, I came awfully close to saying ‘I’ll take the Red in fabric’ (I love how casual fabric seems). But I came to my senses and said no thanks. But I had become sufficiently interested to try and see if I’d like the 58 or GMT even more. Alas, all AD’s were out, which is now unsurprising. And I certainly didn’t want to enter the grey market (didn’t know that’s what it was called then!) if I didn’t k ow what I was looking for, and what to look out for. So after a while, I pretty much gave up. And decided I’ll just shelve the idea first. And within a week of that, I actually had to go overseas. So I casually walked into the duty free watches and asked. By then, I really didn’t think anything would come of it anymore. Nope, they had no GMT. But yes, in their display case was their very last BB58. In leather which I’m very not hot for. I didn’t have much time, I asked to try it on. It seemed to fit well but I couldn’t tell for sure. I liked the way it looked, but even at 39mm it was still far bulkier looking than the seiko kinetic I’d worn for 20 years before I broke it and went watch-less for a couple of years. I really had to decide. I really wanted only fabric or bracelet, but then something in me went ‘just do it’ and so I did. And I’m ridiculously glad that I did. I absolutely adore this watch. How it looks and how it feels on my wrist. I feels like the watch was made just for my (slim) wrist, and I know how ridiculous that sounds. But that’s how I feel about it. I’m into my third month of owner and wearer-ship. So yeah, I’m just so incredibly fond of this watch, it feels like it’s my first watch, ever. The only other watch has brought me so much joy was a Mickey Mouse watch my Grandmother bought for me when I was 10 or younger. It was definitely of a different build quality because I don’t remember it lasting even two years. I’ve had someone compliment me on the watch, a stranger who simply thought it was a really good looking piece (from our exchange he didn’t seem a connoisseur). And a couple of connoisseurs discussing watches and whom I was eavesdropping on out of sheer interest at a cafe, who could tell I was eavesdropping asked if it was a 58 and brought me into their conversation, which was pretty cool. Anyway, I’m already looking forward to my next piece, which I’m thinking will be a Sub or a yachtmaster. For now though, I just love having the Black Bay 58 on my wrist and I have no plans of giving myself a dilemma over what to wear! But that’s about it, and I really enjoy reading everyone else’s experiences with watches. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Hey everyone. New to the forum, just found out about this forum today. Oddly enough,
I just bought the Black Bay 79220N black rose, bracelet in Canada. No AD the part of Canada that I live had one available. I found one at a second retailer, at a price of 5700 Canadian. It's in mint condition and with papers. Since the 79220N Black Rose is no longer in production, how does everyone see this watch increasing in value in the future? By the way, I absolutely love the watch, and am extremely happy! |

Not in this club ( Yet?) but I've been bitten by the BB bug since I saw a nice Red one in Paris in 2017. I passed on that one, but now the AD only 2 miles from my home has one in stock ( on a bracelet). It is actually a decent price for what the watch is.
My only issue is I just bought my wife & I new Rolexes in the last 10 days. |
