Plus, 42mm to 45mm size watches have been around for a long time.

As previous poster stated, people in many parts of the world (USA and Thailand) to name 2 places, are getting larger. Look at the average size of an American man during the 1940s and looks at average size now of men in their 20s in the USA.

Panerai is not going anywhere. Their 40mm, 44mm, and 45mm size watches will be around and popular for a long long time.

And maybe some wear a Panerai as a fad or fashion, but many wear them cause they just like a good mechanical watch that has good lumination and some history behind it. The first Panerai I ever saw, was worn by a Team Mate in Iraq back in 2004..
So true...

Wear what you like.....no one forces anyone on this Forum to spend thousands of pounds on expensive watches......we do it because we love it.
Common sense (and economic sense) says I should have stuck with my first good watch.....my Rolex Sub. When my 42mm PAM arrives in the spring that will be my decision and mine alone.
You can respect the views of people on this Forum like Mike, Leopardprey, Launch Mini etc etc without becoming a mindless drone who has to have Panerai because it is the latest fad.

oh boy some heavy stuff!its very simple if you dislike a brand you avoid it rather than rave and rant against it.iam not very keen on tags anymore but i wouldnt dream of ever trying to dissuade some one from buying one if thats what they want.i doubt very much that people are investing large amounts of hard earned cash on a watch because its a fad.panerai are a brand that has very rich heritage and i feel because of its non conventional look will always appear timeless.and for big sized watches...i doubt there is any going back although i dont think we will see watches beyond 48mm,but i could be wrong.i have had mine for just over 10 days..i love it to bits for what it is rather than any desire to 'fit in'.its brought me so much joy iam looking forward to the day when i can purchase another one.lets just enjoy our watches and be tolerant of other peoples tastes.

Richemont sales are down dramatically, not only Panerai. If the slide continues, which I suspect it will, it will be due to a number of factors, one of them perhaps being the "statement" size of the watch. The principal reason, however, is that previously rushing faucet of easy credit that the banks have shut off in recent months. With far fewer players on the field, the hobby is being returned to those who can not only afford to play, but also to those who love watches for their intrinsic value, not because they are hyped up instruments for doubling your money.

This guy has been giving me advice for years.
My first car was a 1957 Chevy Bel Air. Told me it was too big & too heavy. So I sold it.
Wanted a car to match my birhday, so I bought a 1963 Corvette Split Window. He told me the newer cars were faster, better mileage, handled better. So I sold it.
WIfe wanted a car to match her birthday. Bought her a 1964 1/2 Mustang. Same story, but this wasn't a safe car to drive. So she sold it.

I asked what was a good car to buy. Told me. Stick to North American. Gas prices are high, so get a 4 cylinder.
Bought Myself a 1972 Ford Pinto

Wife wanted an import, so he recommended , and we got her
a 1985 Hyundai Pony.

I think we made some good choices based on his recommendations.

Thanks to all of you who have sent me private messages or emails about your shared concerned that Panerai are loosing their appeal. I agree with you that they've had a good run and that it was cool for a while.

As you've seen on this tread though, there are still a few people who are willing to buy these watches so hopefully you can sell yours to these guys before they also decide that the style is loosing it's luster. Hopefully, those new owners of your watches will get another year or two of enjoyment out of them before they also move on and I think those watches at least deserve those additional months of appreciation.

While it is great that you have so much hidden support, very brave indeed, this thread is going nowhere and is close to being locked. Your opinion is great, but we don't use this or any board to bash brands just to start shit. If this is a problem you are welcome to take it elsewhere. We can stand a ton of things, being a troll on purpose will not be tolerated. The only brand that is allowed to be bashed in case you were wondering is Rado, fire away.

My two cents, Panerai holds its value better than most and with limited production it is still sought after. The economy sucks at the moment, so for the first time in a long time you will see them in cases, but I saw 3 SS Daytona's in cases in the last two months, is Rolex going down the tubes next? Jist of my opinion, you have no real clue what you are talking about when it comes to Panerai.

Thanks,

D

And the Troll continues. Sure thing man...I can just imagine all the PMs & emails sent to you saying something to the effect, "You are so right...I too feel the same way but I'm too scared to post a reply agreeing with you in the open, so I'll do it privately via PM & email. If only I had your courage to post such profound ideas about the dying market known as Panerai...then life would be grand. Someday I hope to be as brave as you...but until then, keep fighting the good fight for all of us that agree with you, yet too afraid to openly post in a forum." Give me a break!!!

I really don't care how you feel about Panerai or Timex or any other brand.
Posts like this never end well. The knowing is when to stop. As I see you don't, let me help.
