Problem keeping time
Just wondering if anyone had this issue when they first bought their watch. I got a new Sub in May and I noticed the power didn't last anywhere near 48 hours, it was losing more than 2 seconds a day, and (more importantly) it didn't rotate a full minute after 60 seconds. I sent it off to Rolex and they confirmed the issue and said there was something wrong internally and they fixed it. I got it back and still noticed the minute hand still didn't rotate a full minute, it needed about an extra 4 seconds for a full minute. I sent it back to Rolex again to have take a look at it again. I'm not complaining about Rolex, they've been first class about this so far. I'm just wondering if this is normal or if I'm being too anal. If not, are there any recourse if they can't fix it. Kinda strange being a new, very recent watch.

Put it this way, I kept track of it when I started my new job and checked about 3 weeks later. So 21 days x 2 seconds = 42 seconds. I was 66 seconds off. I'm no watchmaker, but I think the fact it didn't rotate a full minute plus being behind (-2 seconds) is the reason.

Do you mean the minute hand is not hitting the minute marker exactly when the seconds hand passes 12?

It’s only off by 2 seconds? In my opinion that’d be very challenging to even determine how the minute hand would be off the indexes by simply 2 seconds.

My SubC 116610LN loses - 0.30s/day average (over many months of use). It's more accurate than some Quartz I have and really surprised me.
You're definitely needing regulation there, but the movement is excellent, don't worry. |

*UPDATE*
So Rolex called me and confirmed the issue. It appears the watch is about 4 seconds too slow to rotate a full minute. Whatever they've tried has not fixed the issue, so they are going to replace the wheel and run some more checks. They tried to tell me that it might just be a "quirk," of the watch. I said I understand if this was an older watch but not on a brand new one (unless I'm wrong). Hopefully they can fix it. |
