I love living in New York but I really like Aigua Blava in Begur, Spain.

My wife wants to move to Maine. It’s beautiful in the summer, but I’m going to insist on spending time there in January and February before committing to it. She’s a southern belle who’s never experienced a New England winter.

Our son got his Bachelor's and PhD at Cornell. I really grew to hate Ithaca over nine years of driving there at least a couple times a year to see him. Except Wegman's, The Carriage House and the Piggery. The campus was beautiful as well but the weather was usually less than ideal. A bit too liberal for my tastes.

I really like our Midwest flyover country. Four seasons, excellent deer and turkey hunting and you can own a good size piece of land and nice house without being a zillionaire.

Lived in Honolulu 3 years in the '70s. Really was ready to move back to the Mainland by the end. Loved it at first but that faded over time. Didn't like the mono climate.
Spent 10 days on the North Island of NZ in the early 2000s. Loved it. Wasn't there long enough to get used to driving on the other side of the road. That was a bit unnerving.

Plan to stay here in the middle of nowhere until I can't take care of the property.

We just spent some time in Maine. We do in October. Very nice. The poverty in northern Maine is very shocking. I never saw so many burned down and abandoned houses.

Then you should. I did. There now. But you won't find what you wish to find in Canada.

I second. Of course, my personal experience and observations.

Deep roots, still travel yearly there.

I'm sorry you "hate" where I live, but thanks for trusting us with your kid, and thanks for spending all that $$ in our local economy. Honestly, thank you. We wouldn't have much without you and the schools.

He enjoyed his educational time there, met his wife there and they both remain supportive alumni. But neither liked winters. And it does seem to rain a lot there.

Sorry, I just found the area depressing in general. Hard to get around and Ithaca was always full of out of state people who didn't know where they were going (I was out of state but by year 9, I knew my way around pretty well).

Part of it was probably the long drive home with always a tough day of work awaiting. Our daughter lived in NYC during those years, so that was always a more entertaining trip. And the hotels there weren't a whole lot more than the Ithaca Hampton Inn (especially those delightful "Graduation Packages").

Oh yeah, four years of full boat non resident tuition as well. Plus living expenses, apartments, trips to Walmart, etc. I guesstimate maybe $300K all in. He had no debt when he finished.

NYC. I lived there for a year in 2016. I would love to move back if money was unlimited.

I moved from South Florida to Greenville, South Carolina 2 1/2 years ago...Miss the weather and the electricity of South Florida..and the beaches ...so I have sold my house and have purchased another one in South Florida, hopefully I’ll be back home by mid January.

Other than the USA, maybe Austria or Switzerland for the view of the countryside, but I’m just happy where I am.
