I use a Cape Cod all the time for small scratches.

A few days ago I touched up an Oris clasp. Literally 5 minutes of work while I was watching TV. No where near perfect, but astronomically better than where it started from.

Do you touch the brushed parts?

No, that would be bad. I either work around them carefully or tape them off with painter's tape.

very good good pictures. Here one can see the results. The scratches are gone but notice how the surface don't have the same level of mirror finish. It has like a cloudy finish. To get closer to original one needs proper polishing equipment.

This is the best before and after I've seen.

No that’s just the angle I’m holding it to get that little scratch to show. There is no cloudy finish at all.
