I WILL replace the DJ I sold earlier this year and really miss, but don't know if anything else will find it's way to me. If I get an offer I can't refuse on a 116710 maybe.

i usually have a list of several watches I am looking for, and whichever one I can locate first, I buy. That list is now whittled down from watches I would love to wear, to only ones that I see as good investments.
The only rolex right now on my list is a 16760 "fat lady" without "Date" on the dial, or a 1987 serial number.
But I agree with most here, 2009 might be a bad year to buy any high-end watch from an AD. Unless is some very limited edition that I know I'll never see again, I am staying out of all the AD's, and sticking with hunting down good deals on pre-owned.

If I could get one of these, preowned, at a price starting with a 2 (£s) then it would be a nice start to the 2009 collection season.

My AD has that exact same watch sitting in his case. It's beautiful The rose gold is stunning My father wanted to upgrade his 86 DJ with it. They offered him the usual discount on it, but it isn't enough.

Why? It's BNIB, but it's a "D" serial. It should be discounted on the price at the time, IMO.

At the moment it would be vintage - and has been for a while, but I do have a hankering for some of the modern 40mm pieces. Off the top of my head it would be a SS White Dayona, EXP 1, a Tudor Prince Chronograph , white dial with black subs. But and its a very large but ( yeah I know, wide open for the bad jokes). If a watch smiles at me, I,m smitten.

I hope to add to the Seamaster and Constellation and Speedy pieces but a lot of vintage these days is to expensive with dealers taking the mick on prices. If a deal can be struck and the price is right there could be a few additions, if it isn't there will be nothing.

All the hope and optimism will have gone out the door and I would have wasted your time in reading this!

If I cant get anything there will be a WTB in the Rolex Forum classifieds!!

Way I look at it is. My lovely partner and I have worked our backsides off. Own the house and do not owe a penny to anyone through hard work and doing without or sensible spending. Your a long time planted so enjoy it!
If you can't afford it don't borrow it which has caused this economic mess the world is in at the moment.

Wish me luck

Si

I have spent quite of money on watches this year and at the same time have flipped quite a few as well. So I don't expect to be buying anything.
And that will probably be good for my health, if my wife has anything to do with it

Though saying that I have still got my name down with one of my AD's for a Daytona and I'm not in any hurry for it to arrive.

I spoke to two of my AD's on Christmas Eve and one stated that Patek Philippe will be increasing their prices in the UK by 15%

And my other AD said that its a good possibilty that Rolex will do a price increase also in the UK in the next few months, to help offset the Great British Pound.

Omega are putting theirs up by an average of 10% from 1st February 2009. For the same reason.

I am looking to buy a new house, so right now not another rolex, unless a great deal pops up and I traded in something I already own.
however I can probably get myself the breitiling avenger sea wolf that I have had my eye on.

I rarely plan my purchases, I'm very impulsive. If some vintage bargain turns up I might go for it, or if I should win the lottery, I'd buy a Deep Sea. Love those!
