I got the Milgauss blues :(
While finishing up my christmas shopping today at the oakridge shopping center I ventured into montecristo jewelers to have a look see at the rollies. Lots and lots in stock gmt2c's, no SS daytonas to speak of though. Then of course being a total freak about the GV I had a sixth sense that they had one inside(nothing in the display however). The sales lady took me aside, and showed me one that they had presold just to take a look at her.
"WOW"! one sexy watch the GV is and still at premium prices though $12,000 Canadian! I thought that was a rip off and felt sorry for the person who bought it. So my dilemma after talking to the saleslady is; In january some of you may know im going to hongkong with my wife and her sister to get a GV. I just want to feel assured that I can grab one and not pay the equevelent of 12G's canadian. Does anyone think thats over priced ? Personally after seeing ones here(TRF) bnib for like 6500 or so usd I think thats overpriced. Now im worried that im not going to be able to pick one up in HK wich would be a shame because I worked hard and lusted over this watch for like a year now. Any thoughts folks? should I just wait longer that would make me cry frankly. Any thoughts are appreciated Oh andMERRY CHRISTMAS TRFER'S Dan |

Part of the joy in owning a new watch (whether it's a Rolex or not) is getting it at a fair price. So to me, if you end up paying a price you're not totally comfortable with, it detracts from the enjoyment. If I were in your shoes, I'd wait to get it at a price which would bring a smile to your face instead of rush into paying a premium that isn't justified. GV prices are coming down and I'm sure you'll be able to get it at a decent price in months to come. Perhaps some other TRFer can offer advice on an AD near you that sells the GV at MRSP? Good luck!

Granted I've bought about 7 watches from my AD in the last year but I've been offered MSRP GV's twice in the last 4 months. The third party market has slowed way down for these and I've even heard about discounts at some U.S. AD's. I would not even consider paying above MSRP for a GV. If the market is tighter in CA then start coresponding with a few U.S. AD's

Hey Dan, if you want I will hook you up with a GV here in the US. I know it would be at MSRP, but I MIGHT be able to find one for less. Let me know if you'd like to do something like this.

Hi Dan. I'm currently living in Hong Kong and have tried to keep an eye out for Milgauss at AD windows when I walk by. I haven't seen one yet since I moved here 4 months ago. From what I have been told the Milgauss is not a very popular model in Hong Kong (which is a shame because I have one too) but I do have a friend who works at a shop which I believe can get GV's. Check out this link: http://www.vipstation.com.hk/e/produ...HA&brand_id=36
The shop is more like a grey dealer for new brand name hand bags but also sell used ones. I believe they only recently expanded to watches. You can check their website out on www.vipstation.com.hk Based on $58000 HKD price, and using XE to work out the exchange rate it would be roughly $9100 Canadian. Hope this helps. |

In Hong Kong, you can easily get GV (not the green crystal face model) for $48,600HKD at most big-chain jewelry store. |

I did not see a sub no date buddy sorry. They had LV, Bluesy and the regular sub date. So do you think the GV with the green crystal is going to be a hard find in HK?

Steep, even swissluxury.com and bernardwatches.com have better pricing.

I think the GV selling for $12,000cdn, it's the Green crystal one. No way they are selling the black or white face one for that price. If they do, one stupid guy got suckered into it. |

To the OP: I'd let Felly hook you up back here in North America. Be a shame to buy your watch in Hong Kong and then have a problem once you get back home. There's another thread in this forum where someone bought a Daytona (I think it was) in Singapore (I think it was) and the hands keep getting stuck. He can't get a refund from the original dealer, Rolex USA won't swap it for him but are willing to do a full overhaul. Just a thought... |

If you want one so bad, why don't you buy one on the sales corner? If you look around at different forums they are at MSRP or less, why wait. Just look at the second page here, another GV with a discount from a AD, send that guy a pm.

Buy the GV here, you will get the best price off the board.
Wear it to HK and love it (although Id wear your GMT IIC for the extra timezones) If you buy it there you risk running into service problems and problems with customs coming back into the country. Buy the GV now and be prepared in case you see something else you cant live without there.

Buy your GV in the US for sure! Prices on the GV holding steady on flea bay last one sold for 6900.00 Today. Last few have sold in the 6700-7200 range. Now is the time to buy, prices will be back up eventually. Great buys here on TRF!!

If you get a GV in the UK it would cost you the equivalent of just $5300.

Buying of a reputable seller here is not a bad idea.
There is a GV at a very good price right now on the for sales section.

The is DEFFINITELY no guarentee that you will find a GV at MSRP in HK despite there being numerous outlets, all with the potential to have one !!! The saying "here today gone tomorrow" is especially true with any Rolex demand model.
In Singapore for example, despite what some TRF members are saying it is not that easy to buy a GV nor a SS Daytona at MSRP despite there being more AD's than anywhere else in the entire world. Whilst they may occasionally appear in the wild they are NOT in the wild in abundance as the impression might be taken. Buy what you want when you can is all you can do. If a GV is available via TRF you would be well advised to purchase it asap.
