How difficult is it to get a 15407st or or?
Hey guys i dont have an AP but this is a watch ive been thinking about a lot. My collection is a handful of pateks and rolex but have never gotten into AP. The 15202 was a nice watch but didnt speak to me as much as i would have liked but the openworks just wowed me so much so Id like to pull the trigger sometime in 2019 or even 2020.
So curious how difficult it is to get one at an AD? Whats the list like? Btw I will not go grey |

Pretty much impossible from an AD at this point. Unless you go in and drop 100s if I on crap first and say get me one ... and no guarantees even then.
You can have one tomorrow if you are willing to pay 30k over. I just picked up a 15305, and it feels very special to me - I tend to be a 39mm guy but “ordered” a 15407 too. |

It’s like getting a 5711 blue. You’ll need to build a relationship with a boutique and likely need to meet certain hurdles in terms of $$$ spent. Or get lucky because someone genuinely likes you.

Although it’s not a boutique exclusive, it really only appears in boutiques and I don’t believe anybody has gotten one from an AD before, unless I’m wrong. But after purchasing my 15400 from a boutique, I asked to be on the wait for a 15407 and he mentioned it normally takes $250k of spending as well as purchasing some complication pieces to really be considered for that watch, so there’s that. Although, just a couple weeks ago he did offer me the newer RG 37mm openworked. Guess those are not that difficult to come by then.

Lookup some ridiculous facts that nobody else would know about the brand and also about the openworks watches and talk yourself onto the short list!

The dinner was actually arranged to talk cars and watches, with the AP president of the US also attending. My short term memory is so bad I would need the facts written on my hand. It will be easier just to ask and hand him a check

OP it’s a hard one to get and even more so in the current climate!
I can personally contest you don’t need a huge spend under your belt and a good rapport with the boutique team can help but theres no set angle to this. From previous posters I get the impression some US boutiques are a lot more harder to work with the other so maybe wait for someone who knows these ones to chime in, I’ve also seen a few go overseas with better results, sore a couple of US members have sourced via the Tawain boutique. At the end of the day if the 407 is the only AP you like then maybe if you get a relationship going with the boutique they’ll eventually put you on the list, but if your local one isn’t that fourth coming that might require some traveling on your part. Good luck in the hunt as it’s an amazing piece |

I recently tried the 26237ST (25721ST AKA "the beast" reissues) and honest it was the best bracelet/balance I've tried on a watch, this is after having a 5712A, a 5402, a 15300.
Its big but with the balance/width of the bracelet the watch is the most comfortable steel watch I've tried. I've tried the seadweller, didn't like the skinny bracelet but the offshore bracelet is quite wide and distributes the weight perfectly, large watch with no downsides. If your AD has one (even reserved), I suggest asking to try it :P |

Can you ask him how to get the new AP tourbillon concept GMT? I have purchased from a boutique and I was told they only got one or two if i remember correctly and they were sold to someone who bought multiple pieces at the same time.. I actually thought watch manufacturers made big profits on their very high end pieces. So why not make a few more. the time for the design and manufacturing-- does not make sense to only make a few (unless limited edition piece).

I would suggest contacting your personal boutique because they all may have different criteria in selecting who gets what. |
