TT Daytona is severely underappreciated for some reason. But I love certain TT models way better than the SS ones, so I guess good for me ;-)

Completely agree with you. Sorry you get all these “ridiculous “ comments from people that get offended. Daytona is a beautiful watch but it wears much smaller than my ym or my gmt. I only have 6.75 wrist but it wears much to small for me and I sold my Daytona because it was not getting any Wear time . Some prefer small watches I guess with 8 inch wrist and go with 36mm and 38.5 watch’s but that is their choice but it does not work for me. Completely respect others decision but let mjr have an opinion too.

What’s ridiculous is all the comments about how ridiculous his statement was!

What’s ridiculous is generalized statements like this. Let mjr have an opinion but you don’t have to try insult others but rather just disagree. I’ve noticed this is not first time you have used the same ridiculous statement to ridicule others opinions.

To me, in my opinion his statement was ridiculous, and so I stated exactly that, ok with you sir ??

Oh the irony. You both state ‘it wears smaller than my YM or GMT’ or ‘it wears smaller than 40mm’ .... well guess what?? It IS smaller than 40mm and your YM and your GMT.

The Steel Daytona is 38.66mm so OF COURSE, it looks smaller

This! This is going to be difficult to explain. But. It wears smaller, because it IS smaller.

It’s almost like math doesn’t exist.

Thank you. It’s like saying my 1972 Datejust wears smaller than my 40mm Datejust. Erm....it is smaller

Still crackin' me up my friend.

OP it looks great on you! I understand why some feel it's too small, but ultimately it has nothing to do with being too big or small, it's just a size preference.

For example I have a 7" wrist and it's about as small a watch as I'd wear. There's no wrong or right, just preference.

I will say though that while Rolex calls for a 40MM Diameter, it undoubtably wears smaller than that (and I believe literally measures smaller).

That said, I'd strongly counter anyone that tries to say the proportion in design is too small or too big. Obviously it's another preference, but In my eyes, it's perfect.

It’s not that complicated.

The reason “it wears small” is because Rolex advertises the Daytona as 40mm.

If Rolex sells the watch as 38.5mm on its website, we prob will no longer say “it wears small”

I, poor fool, didn't buy one in the early 2000's. Available used for around 6K while stainless was over 8K. Go figure.

True. I wonder how many notice it's not 40mm. I had to take calipers to mine to see it's actually 38.52mm.

But, my "40mm" 14060M is 39.5mm. All I care is how the watch looks on my wrist, not the number associated with it. Odd concept, I know.

I don't believe the DJ41 is 41.0mm, either. I don't have one to measure but recall it being in the high 39s or low 40s. No one seems to care or notice though.

As to whether the Daytona is right for you ... well that’s totally an individual choice and clearly your happy with it.

Where I do agree with you, is that you can’t rule out a watch purely on its advertised size. You have to try it on to see if it works.
That explains why I see this all the time here, makes sense, thanks for the explanation.

This thought had crept into my head when I received my 36 mm DD couple of months ago, first thought that went through my head when I put it on was, "Wow, this looks a lot bigger than it really is!"

Guess that meant it wears, "larger"......

Oh...the irony, it is not lost on me.

I am well aware if size of Daytona , lol. IMO they need to make it least 40mm.

Odd thing is why does Rolex advertise it as 40mm? We all know it is 38.5mm.

I think most of us are familiar with the concept of wears small/wears big- the measurement of the watch is usually across the round part of the case- say from "8" to "2". it doesn't take into account lug length, crown guards or flexibility in the end links or other bits of the case that add visible or actual mass to the watch on the wrist.
My AP Diver, at 42 mm, with the it's blocky case and inflexible end links was physically more massive on my wrist than my 45mm Fifty Fathoms. Fair to say it wore big.
Then there's the visual aspect; My 40mm Sub "wore smaller" than 40mm Portuguese chrono on the wrist, as the slim bezel and relatively large dial made it appear bigger on the wrist.

You’re exactly right. And like you said, most of us here understand the concept of a watch wearing smaller or larger than its actual measured size, or than other watches of the same measured size. It’s not rocket science. For some reason, a few in this thread are either being deliberately obtuse and pretending not to get it, or they suffer from some sort of cerebral limitation that keeps the concept out of their grasp. I’m guessing it’s the former, but you never know.

Edit: Was giving the benefit of the doubt...now I’m not so sure. Could be the latter, after all.

lol. A watch wears exactly as its sized. It's just simple math. It's not magic. If its too small for you, that's completely fine.

A watch doesn't wear "too small". It wears exactly as it was designed. The watch isn't out to get you. One can simply not like it's size.

Myself, I like all sizes.
