The Watch Market Has Officially Peaked

https://www.chrono24.com/info/watch-collection.htm

When you see stuff like this, you know prices have peaked for a good while!

I’m not sure what your link is supposed to show (it doesn’t go to anything specific for me), but in my opinion, one can look no further than member dwjez14 for the biggest evidence of a market top that I’ve seen. I think by the middle of next year, we’ll be looking back at the Rolex bubble and fondly recalling the antics of our friend, “Top Tick Danny”.

Back in 1980 fresh out of college I got my real estate license. Was selling condos with 12 3/4 mortgages. The old folks would talk about the days of 5% mortgages. “ those days are over forever, you’ll never see that again “ they would say. THE ONE THING WE LEARN FROM HISTORY, IS THAT WE DON’TLEARN FROM HISTORY. A fool and his money are soon parted.

Oil has dropped from mid $70s a barrel in October to $43 today. The hunt for a stainless steel watch wil get easier in Texas if prices don’t rebound quick.

When I click it, it takes me to the home page which has a Watch Collection Estimated Worth app, complete with graphs and everything. Just enter in your references and it's just like a stock chart. Ridiculous!

Silly link; obviously trying to push watches as investments and posted by someone who see the end in sight.

The link is for an app that tracks the value of your "portfolio" of watches. Pretty absurd, but far from an indicator that a peak has been reached.

I love all you pessimistic people. So it’s now 10 years of a crappy economy and the 2 years of an awesome one then back to crappy???? The last boom lasted from 1983 until 2007 with only a couple of bumps in between. But no more says the watch hobbyists. Lol. Just tell who will win the Super Bowl and I’ll be impressed. I never really did believe in seers.

Question : The recession of 2008,also called the great recession, how much did Rolex pricing drop at the AD ?
Second question: How much did pricing in the pre-owned market drop ?

Your analysis of which years were good and which were bad is... interesting.

10 years of a crappy economy? Where have you been? The bull market started in ‘09 - we’ve had a 10 year bull run.

I also think you may be forgetting ‘87 and ‘00.

None.

Sure most SS models could be found in the case (still was impossible to get a Daytona), and you "may" be able to get a modest discount (no tax to 10%), but don't think or pretend all of a sudden desirable SS watches will be plentiful and being offered at a discount. If anything the asinine prices people are asking for GMT's, Daytona's, etc will drop substantially and MSRP on most models will hold steady for a while.

There are lots of other indications of the economy besides how the top .1% manipulate the stock market using the populations retirement money to futher enrich themselves. I wouldn’t let those few that really know what’s going on playing with your money get you too concerned. When they are ready the stock market will clime again.

It’s been since 2005 that I’ve seen the job market like this.
