I'd love a Yacht-Master

I can't work this auction out.........

http://cgi.ebay.com/Rolex-Yacht-Mast...3A1|240%3A1318

I just don't get it

What a terrible auction.

Obviously not up to me but if I was e-bay I would delete the seller for putting an auction up like this where the seller professes to have expertise, but the last photograph shows clearly he is selling a fake.

Everything else looks clean, but isn't the movement wrong?

He is selling a fake, and that listing looks like a VeRO infraction for eBay as well.

Looks more like a trolling boat master than a yacth-master. Sad part is some poor not knowing soul may buy the POS. Makes me wonder if the sellers id got hacked and he is numb to it?

...Lol-x is SPOT-ON...

...Steve, it does NOT make sense.

...has anyone messaged the seller to mention to him that the last pic is clearly that of a COUNTERFEIT movement??

...he MAY have forgotten to post up the pic of a GENUINE YM movement.

Stan.

It isn't just the last photograph, but the whole series of watches (background the same) that shows that this watch is entirely fake.

Roger that!

...the band is counterfeit...

...if you look closely at the CORNERS of the folding clasp you will see that these CORNERS are ROUNDED as opposed to squared.

...as others have pointed out, the movement is COUNTERFEIT...PERIOD.

...LADY CASPER has been summoned.

Steve, the watch has one of the most common errors of counterfeits. The "M" in Master is incorrect. On a genuine Rolex, the centre "V" portion does not extend down to the baseline but stops 1/2 way down. Check out the "M" in the following 2 pix. First is authentic, second is counterfeit.

Now, as to that ETA 2824-2 movement........

That's a 100% cheap fake.....even that bracelet looks terrible....with many links missing!!

Here's what the original Oysterlock bracelet should look like!!

...these power sellers take a little longer to get something looked at removed. Sometimes days.

...we just have to let eBay run it's course.

...I reported it yesterday. The more that report, the better!

I don't think that watch is genuine in any sense of the word. As a matter of fact it is a very poor fake!

I think the takeoff on how to spot a fake is just a part of the scam!

I sent him a message via Ebay advising him that the watch was a fake and that the movement wasn't a Rolex movement. I suggested that he remove the listing to protect his Ebay standing - this was his reply.

"It does have the rolex movement. How can you tell from a photo it doesnt. I do thank you for your help".

...I have pushed...

...eBay's buttons HARDER.

...sometimes these are so frustrating when they are power sellers, but what is WORSE, is an IGNORANT power seller that does NOT have a clue.

...wonder if our "ego" hammered friends will be along for this one??

I couldn't get past that R863698 serial number. Generally fakes with that serial are better quality, with ETA movements and proper cyclops magnification, but still would not pass close inspection.

you don't have to look that close, the crown is too thick and the cg's are all wrong.

I sent Ebay a second message and suggested that they would be responsible if this Folex was sold. I expect they got quite a few emails on this one.
