More info about the new AP
Looks like they updated the website with some more info about their new watch, there’s a few videos of their spokespeople and then a really nice video of their team that actually shows a few shots of the watch itself being assembled!
I personally think it looks really nice, and I can’t wait to see it in full! At the bottom of the site they mention the next update is happening on Jan 12. i like it and im actually very thrilled they are doing something different. Even if i didn't like it.
Taking risks should be commended as i do think the mainline pieces (excluding the very high end stuff) tend to get pretty repetitive with color and bezel tweaks. We all know that works, and they can sell them but it creates the risk of stagnating.

Saw the update earlier today.
I think the design is kind of boring, and the commentary well "some suppliers thought our requirements were crazy"... not sure that is good marketing, other high end brands do most things in house precisely because of that.

It depends if they are talking about primary suppliers.

Hmmmm....I don't know....too early to tell of course.
But something about the mix of batons and arabics...just not a fan personally. And that's in general, not specific to this AP. That said, I think some instances work better than others. So again, we will have to see. |

Interestingly, it looks like the new movement base movement rumors were true. Looking at the movement image in the manufacturing video, the architecture matches up with the leaked photos that came out a few weeks ago.
To be honest it's about time. We'll finally see an integrated chrono, and it's a matter of time before we see the ROC with a full in house movement.

I’m reserving judgment as well. Only thing putting me off so far are the hands. Way too delicate and thin juxtaposed with the sporty 3, 6 and 9.

I’m a bit concerned with the thickness of the case based on the video, but will also reserve judgment until I actually see it in-person. Based on what they’ve revealed so far, the look of this watch seems more on the dressy side, and if that’s the case, I would prefer that it be under 12mm thick in order to fit under a shirt cuff.

Got in touch with the boutique where I am customer:
- no steel but only gold - €30k price range - no other version planned than classic with date and perpetual calendar (PC having an « amazing dial ») |

Around the price point, that doesn't surprise me. I predicted a price premium with the new in house caliber, and it definitely makes sense but it's like they are giving the Calatrava the big middle finger if that 30k euro price point happens.

Date window at 4:30? That killed it for me.

I will be very surprised indeed if they still don't release the inhouse chrono this year, whether it's in the new line or the Royal Oak. Or more likely, it will be announced after SIHH as it's own separate event.

I'm more curious than ever about this new line and also on what changes will be made to the RO line!

Would be better with no date at all, instead of at 4:30

Can't hate these, that's more what people say about the funny octagons of the RO and Nauts. These are more a standard looking watch, uninspiring perhaps but what else could they really do? Close up I think their detailing and shape will show them as more interesting.

Well said. I’m rather indifferent on the new line and don’t hate the 4:30 date as much as I thought I would. Have they released case diameter of these? Looks in the 42 mm range. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
