It’s only around the corner now and we’ve seen a couple of new pieces already. Is anybody hoping for anything specific to be announced? I’d personally love it if JLC released a new diver with date function. The Polaris was such a disappointment and they really missed an opportunity there I think.

With general SS sports popularity these days could we see more brands going down that route?

Sure, I like a traditional diver with a rotating outer bezel and I found the dial to be quite bland. The dial generally speaking appears to be huge. I prefer a date option and the date version just doesn’t appeal. The JLC logo is tiny and really oddly placed and there’s a huge gap of just nothingness in the middle of the dial. I also don’t like the fake patina. I also find the bracelet to be quite unattractive and I don’t way to pay all that cash for a watch with a rubber strap.

I do however love the Deep Sea Chrono and their older Master Compressor range. They just seem to have lost their way on the sportier pieces so I’m hoping for a bit of a resurgence.

No offense, but everything you want in a watch, the JLC Polaris has never been. Why expect a rotating outer bezel from a Polaris?
That's a bit like a guy not liking the look of 911s for the past 60 years and saying he's disappointed in the latest 992 release from Porsche because it didn't look like an Aston Martin.

None taken. I know the Polaris wasn’t going to deliver. I just said why I didn’t like it. Hence why I said I’d look forward to something like a new Deep Sea being released.

I’ll just clarify when I say missed the mark I mean that it just didn’t appeal. I know the Polaris release was based on an older version. They’ve clearly hit the mark compared to the previous version. It just didn’t appeal and prior to Sihh 2018 we didn’t necessarily know we would get a new Polaris whereas you do know a new 911 is going to be released every few years and you already know (roughly) what you’re going to get, much like you would with a new submariner. Basically, I was hoping for a new diver but didn’t like what they released.

For someone who bought the Polaris Memovox recently, I am ok on the design even with the small JLC logo and the date placement including the inner dive number bezel. I however find it odd to use at times due to the position of the three crowns given my intuitive habit on crown placement. But I simply love the alarm function and that makes the Polaris different from the other dive watch from Rolex and Omega.

Rubber strap in deployant buckle and faux patina - again love it and I like it more than the original 1968 Memovox.

Overall, JLC hit the sweet spot on this model IMO.

I hope they'll release a new Langematik. That watch has so much potential but the last version had some obvious design flaws
