New owner with questions
Hey guys just wondering if there is a way to tell when my watch was last serviced? I bought it from an individual and he was not sure. I know it needs to be sent off every five to six years, so any advice of help would be great. Also I have been looking at post about buying watches. Of course going to an AD is the best way to go. If you are going to buy something from an individual is there a way to check and make sure it isnt stolen? I know if the price is way low that is a bad sign, but what if you buy one send it for service and it is stolen, then what? Thanks guys for any help, I am trying to learn.

If it was serviced at a RSC, they'll have a record of it by serial number and probably a good history of the watch.

if you buy a stolen watch that has been reported, then it is confiscated when it is sent into rolex for service

At the end of the day i could report someones watch as stolen if i see there serial number. Just say it was mine and that it has been stolen. I will never get the watch but it puts the owner in a bit of mess when he/she gets it serviced. Some people are that sad.

I called Bexley RSC today on a service matter, hit the wrong button by mistake & got through to Lost / Stolen dept, I apologised & asked to be put through to the service dept.
Never heard of the Lost / Stolen dept before, maybe its a new thing? |

I would check out the serial number to find out the year it was made. The previous owner doesn't know when it was serviced so it probably hasn't been. Then you can figure out if you should get it serviced by dividing by 5 or 7, the number of years recommended between servicing.

Here's the RUSA number for you, says telephone requests not honoured so you'll probably have to drop them a line http://www.preownedrolex.com/images/html/column.htm |
