Watch insurance in UK above 20k per item

The usual saga every year ... but I wonder if you have any recommendation for UK Watch insurance that might be also part of the home insurance...

WIth watches worth 20K (single item is 20K)

I use Hiscox. Not the cheapest option I fear, but good service, you can deal with a human being and they understand the market (I.e. they would pay out for what a watch is worth now even if that’s more than you paid for it, which many do not). Imagine being robbed of a Paul Newman and the insurer giving you what you paid for it back, or less offensively but possible with many insurers, the MRSP of a brand new Daytona!

as long as you have it valued correctly by an accredited valuer that isn't an issue. You can have an appraisal for new replacement value, used replacement value, i think there is also some sort of antique replacement value too but that is for really really old items.

You need to get a proper appraisal first, one that your insurance will accept. I know TH march for example has a link on their site for the whatever apprisers guild is the common one.

Thank you! I'll try Hiscox...i am with Lloyd's bank and they covered up to 50k...but the renewal has gone up up quite a bit so wanted to look around.

Anyone else has suggestions please let me know. Thanks!

I went through a broker called Highworth Insurance. They had fewer stipulations than Hiscox for me. No alarm or safe etc. was required which Hiscox said I would need to have fitted but I guess this varies on a case by case basis

I’ve been with Hiscox for around 20 years for building and contents cover. Their cover is excellent but did have a significant premium jump last year.

Aviva bolted my watch on for about £50 extra. Its a PM daytona insured for 22k. It on a new for old basis and only stipulation is wear it or in the safe. Pleased with that

speak to direct line about a "select" policy. They automatically insure items for £10K, you have to specify items that are above £10K if you'd like them insured. The good thing about their policy is you are covered even in the event your watch is stolen at home but it is not in the safe or on your wrist. I take my watch off at night but no chance I'm opening up the safe at night!

Update

Well i thought i'd share where i got to so far... this is quite interesting for me...
Covering 3 watches total 50K or so.
So
Lloyds offers cover - £1300 - no specific requirement
Halifax - seems to offer £798 cover no requirements
Hiscox - £990 - need an alarm maintained by a professional form
Aviva - £699 (although i have pension with them - so technically they said this was 20% off) ... need a safe S2
Direct Line - £2190!!!
A couple of brokers also have come back with £1000 or so
Assetsure - disappeared!

I’ve had the misfortune of actually having to make an insurance claim on 2 occasions through Hiscox and on the 1st occasion (for a Linn hifi) I received full payment within 12 hours of notifying them that I had to make a claim. They offer unbeatable service and the peace of mind is why I stay with them.
